The new lawsuit challenging the validity of the city's ill-conceived, undemocratically administered, and wayward streetcar plan is the city finally getting a taste of its own medicine. As we all know...what goes around comes around.
Councilman Russ Johnson led the city in overturning the stated will of 75,000 voters who adopted my light rail initiative in 2007.
Councilman Johnson led the city to obstruct a vote on a subsequent 2011 light rail initiative I authored...and thousands signed in support of... that is now before the Missouri Supreme Court.
Councilman Johnson led the city in forcing the city's streetcar plan upon the people without a city-wide vote.Councilman Johnson ran away from Channel 9 news reporter Michael Mahoney when Mahoney tried to ask Johnson some questions about the new KCI terminal Johnson is also trying to force upon the public.
Councilman Russ Johnson needs to be challenged on his leadership.
Therefore, I...the so-called idiot... Clay Chastain hereby issue a challenge to...the so-called genius...Councilman Russ Johnson... to debate the merits of our respective transit visions...as well as the downtown hotel he's pushing and the new KCI terminal he's pushing if he likes... before the people anytime. anyplace, and anywhere Russ Johnson chooses.
And oh by the way, if Johnson is too scared to debate Clay Chastain on these important city planning issues he can bring along cohorts Mayor James and Kite Singleton to hold his trembling hand.

I don't really care for or agree with a non resident like Chastain but at least he is willing to get in his face and attempt to make him accountable.

ReplyDeleteSecondly, Russ Johnson has debated at the Save KCI blog, and he's debated both me and @kcpd on Twitter. I'm sure there are more examples that I'm not aware of, but if you don't think Russ Johnson is thin skinned and unprofessional, then you're probably Russ Johnson.
elBryan, I don't know about the other commenters, but I'm just a regular citizen who does not consider tweets back and forth to be a debate.

Okay, if you want to argue semantics about the definition of debate, I lose.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my point to his snarky, unprofessionalism still stands. Chastain runs to cameras, Johnson runs from them. They both want light rail, but Chastain presents all the facts and offers everyone in the city a chance to vote on it whereas Johnson isn't upfront about his long term goals and avoids trigger words like "rail" or "billion" and he also narrows his pool of voters down enough to tamper with the outcome.
They're both nuts, but one is more honest than the other.
