TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY CLAIMS TRAGIC KANSAS CITY TRASH FAIL COVERUP!!!

Not only is Westport complaining about a lack of decent snow removal . . . Other complaints regarding Kansas City public services have started to mount.
To wit . . .
THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY IS CREATING A RUCKUS REGARDING KANSAS CITY TRASH PICK-UP FAIL!!!
Here are two separate instances of rather revealing testimony . . .
"My trash has not been picked up even though the City Web Site sad it should have been picked up yesterday.
I have not seen a trash truck anywhere since before the storm."
Another commenter with even more detail . . .
"Was just told by a sanitation employee that the KCMO Sanitation Department has suspended trash pickup indefinitely because the residential streets are not safe for the crews to travel. If the expected storm hits KC this week, the suspension of service will extend until the regularly scheduled pick-up schedule in first week of March.
In order to avoid negative publicity for as long as possible, the offices of the City Manager and the Mayor ordered the Sanitation Department to not issue a public announcement on this decision and to leave the announcement on the city's Web site that trucks would be working Saturday and Sunday.
The City's failure to conduct a snow removal campaign in residential neighborhoods now means that citizens will have to store 2-3 weeks of trash before the next pick-up.
Media inquiries about trash and recycling should be directed to Sean Demory, public information officer for the Public Works Department, at 816-935-7487."
#########
Again, what this means for me is that I don't have to take out trash this morning and can work on more pressing matters . . . Like sewing my costume for Planet Comicon KC
Still, it's important to notice that under the radar of local mainstream media . . .
KANSAS CITY VOTERS AND RESIDENTS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT A BREAKDOWN OF CITY SERVICES IN A TIME OF CRISIS!!!
Think about it . . . Since the Inferno @ JJ's last week Kansas City residents are questioning the integrity of City Hall and the services provided to taxpayers . . . Sadly, neither Mayor Sly nor The Council have stepped up to answer these concerns with anything but pressers, propaganda and spoken word hype. Meanwhile, we can only hope that the locals are starting to understand that taking care of the very basic services that the City is supposed to provide in a timely fashion is much more important than politicos working as real estate developers, party planners and engineering company cheerleaders.
DEVELOPING . . .
better go ahead and put that trash out anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhy has City Hall been silent since it released misleading information on the 21st?
ReplyDeleteYes, let's "put out the trash". Let's get rid of all these NIGGERS in managerial roles for the City of Kansas City. They're ruining everything!!! Yes, EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeleteStop complaining about the little things when you will soon be able to ride a 1950s streetcar for 21 miles.
ReplyDeleteYes, trash did not get picked up, but that did not stop the Council from doing the Party-Town-Bootie-Dance last night!
ReplyDeleteWTF?!
This town is being run by the cast of a Lifetime Movie! Which means a bad movie, cheaply done.
City Hall: Garbage In/Garbage Out
ReplyDeleteTony, please do some reporting and investigating before you pump the latest rumor from some crybaby in your combox.
ReplyDeleteMy normal trash day is Friday. Because of the President's Day holiday, regular pickup move to Saturday. Then they suspended pickup in the middle of the blizzard Thursday.
I put my trash and recyclables out Saturday morning. At 8 a.m. Sunday, they picked up the trash. At around noon, they picked up the recyclables.
One day late. No big deal. And you heard me right. The trash trucks were out on SUNDAY.
And since we were scheduled for the last day of the week, it would be a pretty good bet that they are all caught up, and if you have Monday pick up, you better get your trash out.
Now there could be isolated spots that are problems for a variety of reasons, including lack of avaiable workers on Sunday.
But this notion that city hall has secretly suspended trash service "indefinitely" is FALSE and silly on its face.
Brookside and Waldo Thursday trash still sitting at curb on Monday asshole
DeleteIf the residents of Westport continue to park on both sides of the road and block passage for snow removal and trash pickup. They are only to blame. Quit bitching when it's your fault.
ReplyDeleteI'm up off Cookingham. Trash was supposed to come Thursday due to holiday. I get due to snow it didn't. The city website says pickup is Saturday. We all put out our trash and recycling. No pickup. Sunday, no pickup. Due to snow today, I doubt pickup. Tomorrow, doubtful. Then its Wednesday, so now I have two weeks of trash piled up. I think it really will be about 3 weeks for trash and recycling.
ReplyDeleteThe street is clear. So that excuse is out.
City trash pickup has always sucked as long as I have lived in the hood. Just sayin
ReplyDeleteCity trash pickup has always sucked as long as I have lived in the hood. Just sayin
ReplyDeleteYet voters just renewed the etax and gave shitty hall a half cent sales tax
ReplyDeleteCookingham, since they didn't pull the trash trucks off the street until noon Thursday, I would have had my trash on the curb Thursday morning if I expected pickup that day.
ReplyDeleteThen, instead of bringing it back in the house, I would have left it there, and pulled it out of the snow if I had to while I was shoveling my walk Thursday evening.
Then I would have expected the delayed Thursday pickups to be the first thing they got to Friday.
So if you're wondering why no trash truck came by Saturday, it's probably because it came by Friday.
And please, don't give this "Web site said" bullshit. The Web site says no such thing.
Here in Brookside the trash has patiently been piling up since Friday; we've received two notices from the city that it would be collected - first on Saturday, then on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt's Monday and our streets still look like likr yur average East-sider's...
You know, since Tony is such a champion of the common man, the next time he feels the urge to criticize city services, I wish he would find out what it is like to actually deliver those services.
ReplyDeleteHe should ride along on a snowplow tonight for an entire shift to see what these guys are up against, and how many times they have to go over a single street while dodging parked and stalled cars.
Maybe then he would understand that when it's white-out for everyone else, it's white-out for the snow plow drivers too.
Then he should hang on the back of a trash truck for one day, even in good weather, to find out how physically demanding that job is. Then he should realize that they do this everyday, whether it's 10 degrees with a foot of snow on the ground and even deeper along curbs after the snow plow has gone through, or 100 degrees in the shade in July and August.
Maybe then, he'd realize how easy it is to sit in his mother's warm basement and bitch.
Hey Brookside, how does trash "patiently pile up"? Do you people have daily pick up service, and you put trash out every day?
ReplyDelete8:18
ReplyDeleteMakes a great comment imo.
Tony, go and do it.
It would be way cool.
7:44 They are so fuckin stoned they don't give a shit.
Sorry, no it's not. I drove through there yesterday to Sutherland's.
ReplyDeleteTry another lie.
Now it could be that the truck came by early Friday or Saturday and you didn't get your lazy ass out of bed in time to put out the trash. In that case, it will sit there until next week. Just like it always does when you miss the truck.
I've learned that if you aren't a lawyer, developer or have political connections, don't expect anything from KCMO. You'll never be disappointed.
ReplyDelete2/25/13, 7:43 AM
ReplyDeleteThere has been no trash pick-up in Waldo since February 14.
We are not asking for everyday service you asswipe, we are asking for the normal weekly service.
I was told by an employee of the sanitation department that the for-profit contract trucks could not get down the single lane plowed streets.
Those contractors go cheap. They have one person on the truck. This system necessitates doing one side of the street then the other.
It is impossible to use that system with the poor plowing job done by the private contractors in the residential areas.
The problem is pushing public necessities off on contractors for private profits.
The city should have fessed up right away, rather than issuing a lie-filled statement promising trash pick up on Saturday and Sunday.
2/25/13, 8:31 AM
ReplyDeleteNow you are engaging in "The Big Lie." There is trash and recycling waiting to be picked up all over that area.
How 'bout some REAL news!!!
ReplyDeleteYou suck Tony!!
http://www.kansascity.com/2013/02/24/4083897/horse-meat-found-in-danish-pizzas.html
Thats right fucktards, there is HORSEMEAT in the meatballs served at IKEAs!!!
First of all, being the dumbass fuck from Ruskin Heights I am, I had no idea that IKEA served food at a furniture store.
"Seabiscuits and Gravy spill, right next to the Birch Secretariat Sandwich stand."
Fuckin meatballs!!
@ 8:23 AM
ReplyDeleteTrash doesn't really have any other choice but to wait patiently, now does it. Idiot.
@ 8:31 AM
Leaving aside for the moment that the neighborhood surrounding Sutherland’s at 72nd is technically Waldo, you must be blind; trash and recyclables were still at the curb along those street 30 minutes ago when I ran up to QT for coffee and lotto tickets.
And, no, we don’t miss our pick-up dates.
Not because we’re so special in Brookside, but because we all have jobs that demand we arrive at the office early: setting out the trash/recyclables is part of our weekly routine.
Had you a steady income you might understand that.
"There has been no trash pick-up in Waldo since February 14."
ReplyDeleteBullshit. The only way that is possibly true is that you have a homeowner's association that has opted out of the city service.
In which case, you should bitch your your HOA instead of the city.
My guess is that there is somekind of controlling legal authority (law, reg or charter line) which requires the City to pick up trash in a time certain. My guess is that 11 days is pushing the outside of that envelope for the people of Waldo and Brookside. A class action lawywer might be useful.
ReplyDeleteIt is also interesting to notice that Crestwood and and Country Club had their trash picked up on Sunday, when those areas have a regularly scheduled pick up date later in the week than Waldo Brookside.
8:43, there could be isolated trouble spots, and there could be places where people set their trash out after the trucks came by.
ReplyDeleteBut this notion that Tony is trying to sell that citywide trash service has been suspended indefinitely is "The Big Lie."
2/25/13, 8:48 AM
ReplyDeleteTower Homes is run by a clan of morons who would easily listen to a sales pitch from a private vendor and believe it was DEAL!
8:51, my home is in Blue Hills, which is hardly wealthy, and we also had our trash picked up on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we were all smart enough to put it out Saturday, the regular day because of the holiday, in case the trash guys got caught up early.
ReplyDelete2/25/13, 8:01 AM You fucking low-life moron do we have to do everything for you? The web site does not say that? Here is proof that you are wrong, and that you are an idiot. Probably the spawn of a whore.
City Communications Office
City of Kansas City, Mo.
www.kcmo.org
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 21, 2013
Trash pickup suspended Friday, will resume Saturday
Due to the winter storm, the City of Kansas City, Mo., has suspended curbside trash and recycling collection for tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 22. Crews will resume collection on Saturday, Feb. 23. The City’s trash and recycling collection was already delayed one day this week due to the Presidents Day holiday, and today’s winter storm has further delayed it.
Please observe the following delayed trash pickup schedule:
Residents who were scheduled for Thursday trash and recycling collection on the modified Presidents Day schedule (regular Wednesday pickup) and did not receive pick up today are advised to save their trash and recycling for next week. They will be allowed to place four bags of trash curbside on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Residents who regularly have Thursday collection will receive this service on Saturday, Feb. 23.Residents who regularly have Friday collection will receive this service Sunday, Feb. 24.
Please note that the City’s bulky item, illegal dumping and dead animal collections have also been suspended for the remainder of the week. This will allow crews normally assigned to these services to assist with snow removal.
The City appreciates residents’ patience with these delays in solid waste services.
For more information about solid waste collection services, visit http://www.kcmo.org/trash or call the 311 Call Center at 311 or 816-513-1313. For more information on snow, please visit www.kcmo.org/snow.
Media inquiries about trash and recycling should be directed to Sean Demory, public information officer for the Public Works Department, at816-935-7487.

ReplyDeleteYes: my high-paying gig does afford me a certain amount of discrete leeway. What of it?
RE your misapprehension of the nature of waste: setting out N amount of waste does not mean an additional X amount of does not accrue. Thus, X amount of additional waste is added to the original, hence “patiently piling up…”
So you missed this part:
ReplyDelete"Residents who were scheduled for Thursday trash and recycling collection on the modified Presidents Day schedule (regular Wednesday pickup) and did not receive pick up today are advised to save their trash and recycling for next week. They will be allowed to place four bags of trash curbside on Wednesday, Feb. 27."
Or this as it pertains specifically to Brookside and Waldo:
"Residents who regularly have Thursday collection will receive this service on Saturday, Feb. 23.Residents who regularly have Friday collection will receive this service Sunday, Feb. 24."
So when did you put your trash out? Sometime after 7 a.m. Saturday?
Oh, 9:04. So Brooksiders DO put out their trash every day, rather than wait for the next weekly trash day.
ReplyDeleteHow quaint.
Because of the magic of curbside recycling, my family of four puts out one 30-gallon bag of trash a week, and it is usually not full.
ReplyDeleteIf trash is continuing to pile up in Brookside, that must be one trashy neighborhood.
2/25/13, 9:07 AM
ReplyDeleteI put the trash out Friday evening for Saturday pick-up smart guy.
Face it, they did not do what they said they were going to do, and no matter how much you lie or make stuff up, that is reality.
Oh and aare you ready to retract your statement about it not saying that on the web site, or do you intend to say a liar?
The initial city notice said trash pick up was being suspended because sanitation workers were being diverted to snow removal efforts. Then a notice was posted indicating that trash would be picked up during the weekend to catch up. In my neck of Waldo, contract crews pick up the trash, not city sanitation employees. Therefore, Friday morning I called 3-1-1 to ask whether the delay from Thursday (plus holiday) to Saturday applied to all trash routes or only those using city employees. The nice lady who took my call had no information other than the notice announcing weekend pick up. Out of an abundance of caution, I went ahead and put out my trash and recycling Friday morning, and it remains sitting on the curb today. My neighbor’s trash has been sitting out since Wednesday night.
ReplyDeleteRight. You put your trash out Friday evening.
ReplyDeleteThen you got it picked up Saturday morning.
Except you didn't, and now it is "accruing" like rabbits.
Dude, there is scattered trash on the curb in Brookside and Waldo because of people too lazy to get their asses out of bed before the truck came by.
2/25/13, 8:01 AM,
ReplyDeleteDon't be such a know it all cunt. We're not new to the world. Trash was out so FUCK OFF.
Well, don't be such a whiney crybaby and think that because YOUR trash wasn't picked up, then the whole world went without trash service.
ReplyDeleteOr that there is some big city hall conspiracy to deny over-privilege Brooksiders city services.
"My trash didn't get picked up this week. Waaah! Waaah! Waah!"
Geezus, grow a pair, will ya? I truly hope this is the worst thing that happens to you all week.
VIA TWITTER (about 9:00 a.m.) -- @KCMOManager: "If @KCMO missed your trash or recycling collection on normal Thurs. or Fri. routes (Sat or Sun) due to storm. Call 311 and we will get it."
ReplyDeleteThen you got it picked up Saturday morning.
ReplyDeleteNope --- you proved yourself stupid again.

You all want smaller government... you got smaller government. Get used to it. What we need is for everyone to get out there with a snow shovel and clear the street in front of their houses. Old fashioned independence instead of snow removal entitlement. Get America working again.
ReplyDeleteOK, I hear the trash truck on my street, right on time for Monday pickup. Guess I won't have to load up the trash myself and take it out to some rural road and dump it in the ditch.
2/25/13, 9:53 AM
ReplyDeletejust do your job rather than spending time typing made up reasons for why you do not have to
9:53 sounds like the kind of person who has an opinion about everything and facts about nothing.
ReplyDelete2/25/13, 9:54 AM
ReplyDeleteand of course no one is answering 311
after you spend 5 minutes selecting numbers to get to the right section of the phone tree, then no one answers.
Typical Troy Shitty response to a problem.
Just got through to the Mayor's Action Center who said that there would be no trash pick up until the next regularly scheduled day this week for those "missed" on the special routes this weekend.
ReplyDeleteExactly, Henry Wiggen. The only type of "government spending" these people like is when it is spent on THEM.
ReplyDelete2/25/13, 10:45 AM
ReplyDeleteYou mean you trusted something Troy said?
The person of questionable intellect and member of the flat earth society who insists that Waldo and Brookside trash was picked up needs to make a trip to see that it indeed was not. I'm in Waldo and just brought mine back in until after the latest predicted storm. I also just got back from Brookside where trash is still on the curb. I'll survive as I don't have much trash (one grocery store bag), but it doesn't do much good to insist that what didn't happen happened.
ReplyDeleteWe have Town and Country sanitation trucks. They usually do a great job, and their drivers are HOT.
Where is that poser "Sly" He needs a pair of coveralls and a little ride on the back of a trash truck and some of us would believe that he is doing everything he can to plow snow and haul garbage.
ReplyDeletePick up my goddamned trash in Brookside. Typical of fucking KCMO government. Anyone who has lived somewhere else for any period of time must know how shitty City Hall is.
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness the places you've lived before probably didn't have to deal with back-to-back snowstorms like these. Be honest. Our trash service is usually pretty darn good, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd the Town and Country guys are hot. They should do a calendar.
My brook side trash was picked up yesterday, just one day late. Give these guys a break. They do work no one commenting here would do. Show some respect.
ReplyDeletemy trash on my Brookside block was picked up Sat. am, normal pick-up day is Thursday. Brookside is a large area, and I'm not surprised they didn't get every block's trash picked up.
ReplyDeleteSo between Presidents' Day and a 100 year snow they missed some houses. My god waiting one week for trash pick up will not kill anyone! Give these guys a break.
2/25/13, 3:00 PM
ReplyDeleteI think trash pick-up would have worked just fine if the city would just put together and execute a plan to clear snow from residential areas. That could have been a 4" snow and the city would not have cleared residential neighborhoods. It has happened many times before. The road conditions made it impossible for sanitation trucks and crews to operate safely.
I think most of the people bitching about their trash not being picked up are the same stupid fuckers clogging all of the streets with their stuck cars. Stupid assholes are half the problem to begin with, blocking snow removal AND trash pickup. "Gee, I've got a 2WD and bald tires, but I won't get stuck, because I'M a great driver!" I pushed one dumbass out of the snow the other day, and then watched them try to drive down the same unplowed street I had just pushed them out of. Stupid assholes.
ReplyDeleteAgree Town & Country drivers are hot.
ReplyDelete
