The pricey and somewhat controversial City Hall anti-violence program AIM 4 PEACE seems to be increasing their activity amid the current Springtime Kansas City Homicide spike.
In addition to taxpayer cash . . . What does Kansas City get for $300k in grant funding?!?!?
MORE MEETINGS!!!
Here's the latest . . .
Aim4Peace sponsors workshop on crime victims' rights
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department's Aim4Peace program joins with the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, or KCMBA, and the Linwood Family YMCA to sponsor the Crime Victims' Rights Workshop for area residents. The event will take place Tuesday, April 3 from 6-7 p.m. at the Linwood Family YMCA, 3800 Linwood Blvd.
"Our goal with this event is to inform crime victims about their rights and the lawful options available to them," said Dr. Rex Archer, director of the Health Department. "It is part of the overall Aim4Peace mission to teach the community to handle their own disputes in a non-violent manner."
Lawyers from the KCMBA will facilitate the workshop and present information concerning state and local resources related to crime victims' rights. After the presentation, the attorneys will dialogue with community members, address concerns and answer questions.
The event is part of the Aim4Peace Community Classroom, an ongoing series of informative and educational partnerships to address needs in our neighborhoods. The event is free and open to the public.
For more information about this event or getting involved with Aim4Peace, call 816-513-7902, or e-mail aim4peace@kcmo.org. More information about Aim4Peace projects and services may be found at their Web page, www.kcmo.org/aim4peace.

If meetings, marches, rallies, "dialoguing", vigils, forums, and studies actually did anything to reduce violence, KCMO would be the safest city in the country instead of the third most dangerous.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that Aim4Peace also gets another $300,000 from the Health Foundation because of the clever way the folks from Chicago who designed it (originally Project Ceasefire) to make believe homicides are really a health issue.
Nothing like a victims' rights presentation by the KCMO Health Department!
The money wasted on Aim4Peace would be better spent paying for more police officers.

ReplyDeleteYep.

ReplyDeleteYep.
Damn, Penny Mathis is f*ckin' HOT!!!
ReplyDeleteAim4Pea$e only pops up this time of year during budget time. You only hear about their 'good work' from Feb - March. The rest of the year they are silent.
ReplyDeleteSad that some folks go so far to bash anything and everything about a program regradless...
ReplyDeleteFunny that folks bash them for not preventing all homicide in KC on a budget of $300K (when the police department regularly has an annual budget of over $200 million and can't).
So, let me get this straight:
ReplyDeleteWhen a murder happens anywhere in the city, though not necessarily their territory, it's still their fault.
But when they say that the homicide rate is down in their territory (even though it's not in other areas), they get mocked for thinking they contributed to the decline.
A bit of a double standard, no?
If PENNY MATHIS was gonna be there, I'd go the that meeting those GRIFTERS are staging.
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDelete@3:05pm
ReplyDeleteAim4Peace now claims to work in East Patrol and over 92% of all KCMO homicides take place in a 50-block area on the east side.
I'm not sure questioning their effectiveness is a double standard.
I would like to also add that there budget is well over $300,000
ReplyDeleteTraci,Sorry I mean 3:05 you actually have not had a decline in your area. The trend you sell to people was an abnormal year when there were 60 homicides in that area. Normally there are 25 to 30 which is what your meaningless group maintains. But there are more homicides in your area with the $300 grand than there are in other areas without your fake as Creasefire Program
ReplyDeleteAnother fact that needs to be taken onto account is the TREMENDOUS DECREASE in the population of the east side. To continue to have two murders every week when you now have over 12,000 abandoned houses and vacant lots represents a very serious INCREASE in violence per capita than in years past.
ReplyDeleteAgeencies always play with numbers to try to justify their existence, but it's sad that the folks funding this year after year are so easily duped.
But as others have poointed out, everyone knows what's going on, but it's just too tough to make an intelligent decision.
Traci or Tracy Cole is such a liar. She uses negative numbers to try to prove her baseless claims that Aim4Peace works. You can't use a negative to prove a point, Tracy, you ignorant moron. Your Aim4Peace group does nothing but buy snacks for people while you preach non-violence to people who then go out and beat the shit out of each other. Your program is an utter fail, and if you weren't passing out sexual favors to Wayne Cauthen, you would never have had a job. Now people are too afraid of being called racist to close down your phony baloney crap program and use the money more wisely to actually do some good in the City. Why don't you stay home and belittle your henpecked husband instead of wasting tax dollars to pay yourself a handsome salary?
ReplyDeleteWell does the 300k at least provide for cookies at these jerk off sessions? I mean real good soft and warm cookies not some cheap ass Walmart hard as rocks brand.
ReplyDeleteIs there dancers? 300k buy a few poles and some dancers then maybe hoods stay off streets and watch them.
Come on 300k for what????????
10:03, chunk off about $100k for McClendon-Cole's salary and bennies. Then you only have $200k for snacks and drinks. That's a lot less than $300k. They'll probably have to settle for the crunchy Wal-Mart cookies.
ReplyDeleteAim 4 my piece... Tech 9!
ReplyDelete$640,000 according to the City Budget
