Rep. Rizzo secures funding for gunfire detection system in KC

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The House Budget Committee today adopted an amendment sponsored by state Rep. John Rizzo, D-Kansas City, that would include $150,000 in the state operating to allow the Kansas City Police Department to purchase a ShotSpotter gunfire alert and analysis system.

“This technology will give Kansas City police an important tool to combat gun violence,” Rizzo said.

ShotSpotter technology uses acoustic sensors to detect loud explosive sounds and accurately triangulate the location.

  7. Th crime in Johnny's district isn't usually gun crime, it's vandalism and scrapping. Perhaps he could do something for his district rather than the districts to the south.

  8. Sounds very much like that ridiculous red light camera SCAM. Is there anything these poiticians won't buy with taxpayer money. Well at least thanks to Tony's obession with the gangster murder numbers we'll be able to watch those numbers plummet once this goes on line. Year, sure.

  22. el Bobo head with another moronic comment. This does nothing to kick morons out of here to begin with, it just lets us pinpoint where the dead bodies are after the shots are fired. Stupids.

  23. JJ took one of Will Royster's legislative agenda items from two years ago and used it to try to gain credibility - good thing Royster provides JJ with so many good ideas, otherwise the boy would have no original thoughts to claim as his own.

  24. Bryan makes the only decent point in this thread.

If this helps find criminals than good for Rep. Rizzo for getting the funding.
