TKC HAS LEARNED THAT A RATHER INFLUENTIAL KANSAS CITY DEMOCRAT ACTIVIST WAS MUGGED ON THE PLAZA LAST NIGHT!!!
Thankfully, it was a minor theft, there were no injuries during this crime but the report jibes with many stories about the increase of theft in the otherwise posh local shopping district. Local political irony: This activist has volunteered with a great many campaigns for local politicos who have mostly refused to do anything comprehensive about Kansas City Crime.
WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT A GREAT MANY OF THESE CRIMES ARE GOING UNREPORTED BECAUSE THE VICTIMS ARE BLAMING THEMSELVES!!!
Listen, e-mailing me and bitching about car-break-ins or random altercations is all well and good but I'm just gonna blog it . . . It would be worth reporting to the police if only to improve local crime stats so that (even) more resources can be allocated for this area . . .
So . . . As the solstice/X-mas returns and continued winter shopping season continues under The Plaza Lights . . .
IT'S NOT CONTROVERSIAL AT ALL TO REMIND PEOPLE TO BE CAREFUL ON THE PLAZA DESPITE THE FACT THAT SO MANY PEOPLE IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE SCARED OF A CRIME PROBLEM THEY CAN'T BLAME ON DIRECTLY ON BLACK KIDS!!!

I quit going to the Plaza years ago. Too much crime, too much traffic, and way too expensive. Not worth it.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest outside of a couple of places to eat the Plaza does nothing for me and as a rule try to get and out by no later than 7:30.
ReplyDeleteHad out of town guest couple of weeks ago and was talked into going down there on a Saturday night just to see the lights. Streets was so packed with people and horse buggies even the guests said gee whats all the hype about. We did see security patrols blocking traffic sitting in their rides doing nothing out of being seen. But sitting in middle of road to me wasn't the safe answer either.
