Here's what we have learned from a mass media hot mess played out this week . . .
IF A STORY DOESN'T FIT THE SCRIPT OF THE CORPORATE KANSAS CITY MEDIA . . . THEN THE PUBLIC ISN'T GOING TO LEARN MUCH FROM THE NEWS!!!
No follow-up . . .
Flimsy excuses taken at face value . . .
A bit of blushing about quick hysteria . . .
A nice glimpse at ethnic suburban middle-class drama that only hits the surface before it disappears . . .
The lesson we've learned from local mainstream media on this one? It's cool to lie as long as they support your cause. Remember that for future reference . . . And then stop complaining about bloggers.

Metro Woman: Arranged Marriages Often Work Well
Your on her your Honor.
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn't work out, kill the bitch.
Its gonna be a misogynistic Christmas.
BTW, here is Saudi Arabian State Sponsored educational curriculum that maybe the kids might enjoy over the holidays!!
ReplyDeleteIt shows kids, how to, when they get older, chop off peoples hands and feet according to Sharia Law.

Nice.
Just a bunch of fucking sand niggers. Who gives a shit?
ReplyDeleteToo bad the previous posters are to fucking ignorant to know that this family is from India.
ReplyDeletelolz
ReplyDeleteIndia or not it is an arranged marriage and an abomination. This incident was ugly and wasted a lot of people's time.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, this woman was only 19,which is way to early to do this. I have 2 girlfriends who are in arranged marriages, and they have been very successful. They were in their mid-late 20's and well educated.
ReplyDeleteThey honored their parents' wishes, but they had a lot of confidence in their judgement. One told me, "After all, who loves me more than my parents. They would never do anything to hurt me." She was right.
There is something to be said for family alliances, when everybody is on board.
Am I glad I did not have to do this? Yes. But I cannot pre-judge this, except that 19 is too young to have to make this decision.

ReplyDeleteThe idea, that a woman is not capable of choosing who SHE wants to marry, and is now countenanced in the American conversation, is an excellent example of just how far this country has fallen.
American women, over the age of 18 have the same rights as men.
Mommy and Daddy can pick out a nice boy if they want, but in fuckin America, NO ONE can make her marry the guy.
At least for the present.
No doubt, in the not to distant future, when Sharia Law is in place, she will have to marry a guy of Irish descent named Muhammed.
But not yet anyway.
You're in America now. Leave the nutty stuff back in India, or wherever you came from. Learn the laws, the culture and the language. If you want Indian culture, get a one way ticket.
ReplyDeleteHey, Chuck? What the heck does Saudi Arabia have to do with the Khan family? Or do all Muslims look alike to you?
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda like if she were Italian, you pointing to nutty laws in Finland.
Nobody is asking about baby Lisa. Why would an anonymous donor be paying the familt's legal fees and for a private detective? What's in it for them? Maybe that's who mama sold the baby to.
