TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! TWO COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA BUSINESSES ALREADY PREPARING TO CANCEL LEASES!!! SMART MONEY SAYS KANSAS CITY CAN'T CONTROL VIOLENT FLASH MOBS!!!

Right now in Kansas City Proper, on the the Country Club Plaza, the race to the door has already begun for frightened business people.

Sorry newsies, once again you'll have to wait to see that I'm right about this one because I'm not gonna get anybody fired. Better to try to get Highwoods to contradict me so that they'll look even more foolish in retrospect.

To wit . . .

ONCE AGAIN UPPER ESCHELON TKC TIPSTERS HAVE TOLD US THAT AT LEAST TWO BUSINESSES ARE PREPARING TO CANCEL THEIR LEASES ON THE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA BECAUSE OF VIOLENT FLASH MOB FEAR!!!

It might take a while for the details to go public . . . But already more than a few Plaza businesses simply don't have faith that the Mayor and City Council or even a heavy police presence will solve their problems.

Once again we see that PERCEPTION IS REALITY . . .

DO YOU REALLY THINK LAW ENFORCEMENT CRACKDOWNS AND ANGRY WHITE AND BLACK PEOPLE ARE GOOD FOR BUSINESS ON THE PLAZA?!?!?

For all of human history most decisions that we make are powered by either fear or greed and right now fear rules the Country Club Plaza . . . Fear that might not be quelled by "economic border war" tax breaks.

Who wants a heavy police presence to defend a causal night out on the town?

Is the racial strife and class warfare that has now embroiled The Plaza really the ideal setting for dinner and a movie?

Also . . . We all know that any crackdown will inevitably result in political pushback and some form of legal challenge to police.

Still . . .

Beyond fear and greed . . . For Business people and everyone else: All of the decisions you think you ever made from your wife to your job are about one thing above all else: Expediency.

Accordingly . . .

FOR SO MANY PLAZA BUSINESSES THERE'S A FOUR LETTER WORD THAT'S MUCH SIMPLER THAN GETTING INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY BASED AND COLLABORATIVE SOLUTIONS WITH POLITICOS, ACTIVISTS, BLATHERING RADIO TALKERS OR UNRULY TEENS . . . THAT WORD IS: MOVE!!!

And just as the population of Kansas City has declined over the years . . . Expecting Plaza businesses to take the moral high ground and act out of anything more than their self-interest is foolhardy.

The rats are already abandoning ship and the fact that most of these Plaza places are chain stores makes them even less likely to have any loyalty to Kansas City, Missouri.

Also . . .

WHEN IT COMES TO POLITICAL SOLUTIONS, IT SEEMS CLEAR THAT THERE'S SIMPLY NO PUTTING THE VIOLENT FLASH MOB GENIE BACK IN THE BOTTLE!!!

Debating responsibility or root causes of this Plaza Flash Mob Hot Mess is futile and only the pastime of idiots and shut-ins. What's more important is taking an objective look at reality while realizing that the meager tools at our disposal to reverse the trend HAVE YET TO BE PROVEN EFFECTIVE IN A SINGLE CIRCUMSTANCE when it comes to thwarting violence and challenging negative public perception of embattled areas in KC Proper. Don't you think they tried to save The Landing, Swope Park, The KCMO School District, Bannister Mall, etc. et. al.? Proving me wrong on this information and my basic argument that things are only gonna get worse on the Plaza relies on confidence in our political leadership to solve a problem that has been building to a climax for more than a year and has finally come to the tipping point with the Mayor dodging bullets.

Examine the track record:

Kansas City politicos attempted to bring about a "Downtown Renaissance" and they have failed after spending hundreds of millions of dollars.

The exceptionally high murder rate has remained constant and trending upward for more than three years now despite so many valiant efforts.

Over the course of a generation Kansas City has seen a mass exodus away from the urban core and our inept political leadership.

So does anyone argue that this same FAILED system will save another beleaguered shopping district when the only discernible skill demonstrated by Kansas City politicos seems to be handing out pay increases to union workers and providing tax breaks to developers amid macroeconomic turmoil?

Does anyone think the best plan is to trust politicos with this town's business?

Like it or not, people have given up on ballots and they simply vote with their feet. History backs up this EXCLUSIVE and AWESOME DATA as Kansas City's inability to realistically address violence overall continues to chase people way.

DEVELOPING . . .

ASK THE YOUNG AA'S WHAT THEY WANT TO DO OTHER THAN BE AT THE PLAZA. THEY WON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ELSE.

It's classic mob mentality. Most are there just TO SEE the train wreck but there are more than plenty of the hoods there to create it.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT MANY YOUNG BLACKS LOVE TO INTIMIDATE WHITE - MAINSTREAM - LAW ABIDING FOLKS AND ALMOST ALL LOVE WATCHING IT TO THE POINT THEY'LL TAKE A RANDOM BULLET.

THIS EXPLAINS P&L'S CONTROLLED ENTRY POLICY.

PREDICTION: KCMO OVERTIME WILL DEED OVER MUCH OF THE PLAZA STREETS (TO HIGHWOODS MAKING THEM PRIVATE) SO THEY CAN INSTITUTE CONTROLLED ENTRY.

  7. Once again liberals are confusing two separate issues (reminds me of the global warming debate). Reducing crime in the City and eliminating african american mobs in the plaza are not the same thing. Curfews may not reduce overall crime rates but they will get it out of the Plaza. Curfews and admittance policies have kept descructive youths out of the Legends in KCK and it keeps them out of the P & L. It has to be so frustrating for the so-called african american leaders...everytime that community is given a chance they live up to stereotypes.

  8. The death of Bannister Mall started when metro bus service hauled all the thugs out south. And for the past couple of years they are leaving their destructive marks on Independence Center. Just makes me sick !!

Wise up before it's too late for the Plaza.

  9. My Family and I have decided to no longer shop at the Plaza If you get injured who's going to pay the medical bills? You will. It's not worth it. And God forbid if your seriously injured.

There are too may other places you can shop and Buy the Same thing! The Plaza is nothing but just bunch of Franchise Chain Stores anyway, where the Markup is higher.

You can get the same thing on another side of town without all the traffic hassles of the "Plaza".

    ReplyDelete
  10. Why wouldnt businesses leave? They are in BUSINESS. That means turning a profit. They are not there to engage unruly kids and adults. 10 years from now the Plaza will be a wasteland. Cellphone stores, gold chain kiosks, and maybe a penners. Of course it will be whiteys fault.

  15. As long as city hall insists on listening to and involving the same old duds like the revs and Al Brooks, who the mayor invited to join him Saturday night, nothing's going to change in the black community. These are the old victimization/entitlement crowd who have made very good livings from threats, extortion, and claims of racism at the drop of a hat, even as the east side has hollowed out to the point that it looks like Dresden after WWII.
Why are the mayor, the council, and th eKCPD so afraid of these people? They're a bunch of empty suits that, as was reported in the "Star", the young people involved in the Plaza have never even heard of.
Suck it up, mayor, and find some serious spokesmen for the black community who are talking about empowerment and responsibility. They're out there trying to get your attention, but you just can't say no to the old grifters.

I agree. "Who wants a heavy police presence to defend a causal night out on the town? "

It just takes away any atmosphere the Plaza has. A moonlight romantic dinner for two with a cop on a horse watching you. Just doesn't cut it.

Not to mention always looking over your shoulder just in case something happens.

  17. I remember Bannister Mall in it's good days. Thriving, popular. Then came the crime commited by a small segment of the population, yes black and the perception became greater than the reality. Shoppers stayed away, businesses went under a tax base was lost, all destroyed because of a small percentage of the population. Ditto with Indian Springs Mall. At some point we can't let these urban terrorists rule the streets. Crack down, enforce every small infraction to the uptmost extent. Bring the heat and the spotlight, rule nothing out. Loss of welfare and other entitlements unless the parents can control them. If they are recieving benefits from the state for raising that child and are doing a piss poor job, yank the benefits.
East KC - Clean up your act - stop with the whining that nobody cares when you yourselves do not care what is happening on your own street. Shooters at a block party of dozens of people and nobody saw anything - Bullshit; you do not care so why should we. Kill each other every day and nobody knows anything. Fine. Have it your way. You want to kill each other - have at it, but when your stupidity flows over into my neighborhood, I will see what happens, I will go to the police, I will stand up and point you out.

    Plaza incident
As you’ve probably heard, large crowds of juveniles converged on the Country Club Plaza on Saturday night and wreaked havoc throughout. They intimidated shoppers and diners, destroyed property, committed a strong-arm robbery, and a juvenile suffered severe head injuries in an aggravated assault. Police took control of the crowds using traffic crews to close streets, pepper spray to disperse the crowds and a helicopter overhead to help officers on the ground find the most troublesome areas.

Who said anything about jackboots and face shields? If that is what you think is needed that is your own misconception. Enforce current laws, bring new ones that force responsibility upon the irresponsible. Enforcement of laws to bring out of control unruly mobs of teenagers is not an impediment to your personal freedoms, stop acting like restoring order in a chaotic situation is some sort of affront to liberty. Liberty has responsibilities. You want to advocate anarchy go for it.

  37. 10:23 Your suggestion does not make sense, you want police to be dressed in street clothes so when they approach an unruly mob the people in that mob have no idea if they are police or not? So I am trying to figure out if you think that these kids will have the leap of logic that every person on the plaza that is not in their own age group may be police that they will behave? Please enlighten me. If they show no respect for anything, how will street clothed polie help?

Kicked and beaten by atleast 8 "urban youths" I was told. Why? I pointed out that they were blocking traffic and should move. I was fine with the first three that attacked me( I am unafraid and can handle myself), it was the additional "youths" that turned the tide against me. Sick to death and tired of it. Roberts quickly encountered a couple pushing a baby stroller away from the area.

“You could see the sheer horror on her face,” Roberts said of the baby’s mother. “We asked her if she was OK and she couldn’t even talk. That’s a visual I’m not going to forget for a while.”

As an aside, a few years ago (probably about 7 years ago) I went to a lunchtime talk by some black leaders about where do we go now in race relations. Alvin Brooks was one of the speakers, and all he wanted to do was relive the past. To hear him talk there'd been no progress in the past 50 years. Blacks were concentrated in the ghetto because of racism. My take on where we go now after hearing him? I went home and decided never to go hear him talk again.

  82. It is interesting to me that some people want to point the finger at KCPD for this problem (i.e. 10:57). After all, it isn't as if they are dropping kids off on the plaza and leaving them unattended and unsupervised until 11:45 PM. Besides, they are trying to deal with the homicides on the east side of the city, Westport, Power & Light District, Club Xpressions, Chiefs games, Royals Games, and events at the Sprint Center. I'd say they are spread a little thin in this city. If the City Council and Mayor want to deal with all these problems, perhaps they should do what a lot of the other larger cities do, and hire more cops!!!!

  83. Aim carefully and don't miss if teen thugs try to gain-force entry to your business or home. Have video running so they can't cry Racism and all the other bullshit excuses they come up with when the cops arrive.

I guess thats the only solution at this point. Obviously City Hall doesn't care about anything but themselves.

  84. Hey everybody. I got news for you.

Flash mobs almost never form when it is freezing outside.

So just hope for a swift Fall and a quick entry into a harsh winter.

And, if the Federally subsidized Unemployment benefits are allowed expire in December, you will not see a flash mob. No. You will however start to see the beginnings of KC's own "Hooverville" - which will likely turn into a food riot.

But then again, the kids these days are also out of control. And well armed, it seems. So much to think about - everything apparently failing.

  85. "hope for a swift Fall and a quick entry into a harsh winter."

Yeah what it the opposite occurs? Like a late fall and mild winter.

  87. RIP Plaza, RIP Westport, RIP Bannister mall, next up- RIP KCP&L, hello legends, hello Johnson county, as dumb as Kansrockas was it was still a safe event because the thugs cant afford to roll out there in mass groups. KCMO has the dumbest government ever in a city this size. (hows that etax working out for ya)

Kansas City Missouri is the armpit of America, and will stay that way till the voters and citizens get off their ass and hold city government accountable. Its your city its your choice

  88. 4:01: Thugs have (or can steal) cars, and JOCO has crime, too.

  89. stop thinking the mayor or PD will be able to do anything on the plaza, employ the IAFF local 42's who runs this city and KCFD, after all we now know they have crazy gun wielding employees on staff, hell put a pumper on every corner, the FF's will love it because they can scan for pussy even more so while on duty...lol

  90. "KCMO has the dumbest government ever in a city this size."

Actually I think you may be being to complimentary.

  91. 1:17 get with the KCFD they can guide you on how to be proactive by yourself, and also how to escape charges when you wave a gun around...hey just trying to help.

  92. 4:37 PM - A bit crass but I basically agree with you.

  93. Okay were going to take bets on all hell breaking loose on The Plaza this weekend.

    Place your bets.

  94. There will be no "safe" place. When they are done ruining the Plaza they will look around and find out where whitey went - then they will go there. Yes, political correctness will always set us up for the same problem somewhere else. They are like rats that you can't get rid of. Blacks must be so proud of their race!

  95. 5:06 it really your arkansas mentality that make this even worse!

    ReplyDelete
  96. 4:43 no one is going to gamble on a outcome they already know the results of...oh wait the council might gamble on it because they are so stupid and living in a fantasy world, but remember they have no money so be careful who you bet with!

  97. 4:08 I guess this city needs more cops!! We should lay off fire fighters and make that happen. We can and we should! after all fires are far and few in between with current building codes in place.

The fire department backed by the current city council (IAFF local 42) took over the ambulance in this town to justify a ridiculous budget and not to make a public safety difference in KC.

  98. Its Thugsville home to crime.

  99. So what was Tony's solution after this rant?

I've yet to see Tony offer any solid and real solutions to this stuff.

  100. Tony,
Rats act like rats. They come out in the summer, tear everything up,steal, destroy, and run home. When the head rat runs the City, then the rats will dominate...

    ReplyDelete
  101. @ 4:08 - I couldn't agree more! Hire more cops!!!

@ 5:26 - Getting rid of a few worthless firemen would be a good start! KCFD has been an overstaffed waste of money for too long!!!

    Great points, both of you.

  102. Why not just give Fireman deputy powers as required when needed.

    Fire hoses are pretty powerful.
