The New Sly James advert is a lot more upbeat and touts his experience.
The latest Mike Burke advert is simply a lot better looking with HD video and sweet editing . . . But also touts his experience.

Sly James apparently does not have experience spelling.
ReplyDeleteAt :08, it says he has "well-rounded creditials." I think they meant CREDENTIALS.
If you're gonna spend a couple thou to produce a TV spot, you should probably make sure everything is spelled right. It isn't a blog post, after all.
Do either of them use unsolicited bulk e-mail?
ReplyDeleteI like my "creditials" well-rounded
ReplyDeleteAt least Sly knows what city he is in...Burke thought he was in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteMike is ready to hit the ground running. That's what scares me about the guy. He understands that KC is all about moving money around. I want a mayor that takes some time to learn the chicanery.
ReplyDeleteRoe's poll and an excellent, more aggressive ad. Sly is on the march.
ReplyDeleteBurke in office is Kay Barnes 2.0. He will bring back Greg Williams and Steve Glorioso. It will be back-room deals and council deal cutting all over again.
ReplyDeleteThis election certainly offers a very clear choice, but I'm really concerned about someone who talks about knowing how KCMO city government works.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is IT DOESN'T WORK and if you keep doing the same things the same way with the same people it will continue NOT TO WORK.
You need someone to kick butt and take names and ask tough questions and not take crap for answers.
No tinkering around the edges; clean the place out!
7:27 pm I heard the same things about Burke. Starting to re-think the whole Burke thing. "I know City Hall" just not working for me.
ReplyDeleteI'd say both of these candidates are "well-rounded"...how about they both go on "Biggest Loser" and he who loses the most weight will be declared Mr. Mayor. Let's start by "cutting the fat" from the actual candidates.
ReplyDeletelean & mean
Both look like they shower every day. Funky was on the second Friday plan.
ReplyDeleteFollow your instincts, 7:59. Steve the Snake is most def on Burke payroll. Steve is (literally) foaming in the corners of him mouth (as usual), at the chance of getting back in the Mayor's office and on the City dole...again. Burke is a retread by association, and Glorioso is a retread as well. I'm for a new, intelligent voice...Sly James!
ReplyDeleteBurke's video is light years better than that abortion he was running a couple of weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteI want to know how much Sly is PAYING freedom for their support.
ReplyDeleteThey dont do anything for free. How come no one is talking about that.
SLY Paying for support???? How does that make Sly a good/trustworthy guy?
Sly isn't paying for Freedom. Freedom is trying to be relevant.
ReplyDeleteSly will embarrass our city by telling punchlines that aren't funny. In our weak mayor form of government, he'll be an even weaker mayor.
ReplyDeleteI think you can judge what a potential administration can be like by the quality of commercials they run. Sly has more money, but has yet to put together a high quality commercial.
ReplyDeleteAlso, failing to take a strong stand on pretty much any issue is a problem for Sly.
If Sly and Burke were doctors, I'd probably want the kind of experience Burke has. If my doctor said he wasn't really sure what he was doing, but had some ideas and would ask other experts who did, I'd probably just get a new doctor.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, doctors that have the most experience usually encounter the most breakthroughs because of them having a foundation and knowing what works and what doesn't.
I can't actually think of any profession where I'd think otherwise, and if we want a professional mayor to take office, it should be looked at the same way.
12:16am Not if it means having Glorioso back at City Hall.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please tell us about Glorioso, I don't know him. I keep hearing the name.
