5th District Councilman-elect Pastor Brooks puts local violence in perspective with a recent facebook message:
"So now reality sets in. While conducting the Concerned Clergy meeting yesterday, there was gunfire exchanged outside the church. Didn't make the news, but a sobering reality on what we have to do. It's still praying time."
While so many politicos are still patting themselves on the back . . . It's encouraging to see Pastor Brooks eager to deal with real problems in Kansas City.

ReplyDeleteI invite Pastor Brooks to MY neighborhood, a LOT of the time they don't even make the police scanner when I hear (close or otherwise) gunfire.

ReplyDeleteMaybe Pastor Brooks should be the chair of the council public safety committee and provide some leadership in the black community to help the adults who live east of Troost that parents need to be responsible for their children instead of afraid of them, that the excuses of victimization and entitlement are from back in the '60s and are now longer acceptable, that getting an education is critical to a decent future, that the police aren't the enemy if the neighborhood works with them, and that crime and violence will result in prison and the community will not only accept, but demand that.

There are hundreds of kids off the streets everyday because he has the only dropout recovery school in the state, at his church. That's doing something not just talking. If you don't believe in prayer, I'm sure you live a miserable life.
