Kansas City's La Raza Political club is the largest, most respected, most influential Latino Political Advocacy group in Kansas City. For nearly 40 years in one form or another they have fought for the political rights of Kansas City's Latino Community.
Recently (not even a month ago), I became a member. Again. In the interest of full disclosure and because I like the photo featured above I thought I would mention this to readers. It should be no big surprise that TKC is aligned with ANYBODY who honestly cares about diversity, equality and AWESOME Latino cultural heritage.
Now, neither Tony nor TKC take any cash from La Raza Political Club. They don't have it to spare. I think the membership fee I paid them was something like $15 that I scraped together.
Anyhoo . . . There are so many pretenders when it comes to minority representation. TKC isn't a leader, more of a scribe and foot soldier. Contrastingly . . . Without question Kansas City's La Raza Political Club has a more extensive and long standing political reputation in this town than any other group. Contrary to popular misconception, the group is not directly affiliated with the National Organization which bears a similar name. However, in Kansas City, La Raza Political Club has ties or a good working relationship with nearly every Democrat elected official in this town and beyond.
The group is led by Lali Garcia who is most likely the closest person to a Living Saint that I have ever met. A great many other folks share this opinion.
As far as I know the group has only a loose political ideology and is open to all philosophies as long as they respect the humanity and voting rights of The Latino Community. As much as I take the Conservative fiscally astute position that markets should be the determining factor in setting immigration policy that emphasizes human dignity . . . We don't have a white paper on the subject.
To summarize, back in the day (late 90s) I used to work with the group and hand out our ballots on election day to the many old ladies who used the group's choices as a guide. Now I guess I'm back in the fold and bringing my more substantial talents to the organization.
I just thought you d-bags should know. There's no guarantee that a La Raza endorsement will also pick up TKC support or vice versa. It's no real secret that I have always believed that Latinos are GREEEEAAAAAAT but I just thought it was important that d-bag blog readers understand a bit more about the perspective of this blog.
TKC Footnotes On The Term "La Raza" for the uninitiated:
In the Spanish language the term La Raza literally means "the race" or generally and symbolically "the people." Its meaning varies amongst various Spanish-speaking peoples.
More importantly: The phrase, "La raza cósmica", in English "the cosmic race", embodies the notion that traditional, exclusive concepts of race and nationality can be transcended in the name of humanity's common destiny. It originally referred to a movement by Mexican intellectuals during the 1920s who pointed out that Latin Americans have the blood of all the world's races (White Europeans, Asian-descended Native-Americans and Black Africans), transcending the peoples of the "old world".
Aw shit, here we go.
ReplyDelete"The Race" - now isn't that wonderful! I suppose you want Texas back.
ReplyDeleteLa Raza could play a powerful political role if it does not get bogged down defending the corruption of Theresa Garza Ruiz and her unemployable husband.
ReplyDeletePeople are suffering because they are not receiving services because the Garza Ruiz family has put their bank account ahead of the public good.
La Raza should never fall into the trap of defending that crime.
Chris Moreno will run this town soon and you rodents will beg to rim his asshole.
ReplyDeleteHere's an example of the heavy influence that La Raza has.
ReplyDeleteThey told Manny's to hire more Mexican dishwashers and bus boys and they did.
They told white folks to move to the west side and they did.
They told Tony to start a blog that was full of half-truths, hyperbole and little girl porn and he did.
They were also the silent partners in Oasis.
Why do you think the west side was so pissed when ICE raided it?
Thank God for Planned Parenthood in the minority community. Margaret Sanger should be made a saint.
ReplyDeleteMoreno quit blogging. You can't run shit. Not a house, a town, a race or a shuttle run.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly are the political rights that the Kansas City Latino community is fighting for?
ReplyDeleteIf you run some good candidates with actual ideas and proposals and not the same old tired "we want our fair share" crowd, you'd find the general population of KCMO residents might actually vote for them.
The Garza nepotism/extortion drama is not an encouraging sign. If Latinos want to copy Gwen, Clinton, Ron, Bishop, the revs, and all the other east side grifters, they're going to find out that they're about forty years too late.
And the fault for their failure will be entirely their own.
La Raza translates to "The People" not "The race" so go and get a better Spanish dictionary pendejo.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteAt least Garza Ruiz is not on drugs, like Rizzo.
ReplyDeleteYou have got to be kidding. La Raza Political Club well respected?
ReplyDeleteLali endorsed the elimination of the E-Tax. I know the last few years they've tried to get their act together and start earning credibility and respect. And they bring what to the table? 60 votes? What a powerhouse!
Isn't Ricky Martin the President of La Raza. As a whitey, I love that guy's music!
ReplyDeleteIs La Raza going to have its own blog, or is this going to be it? We already have to try to wade through all of TKC's charges of racism and discrimination whenever a non-white person gets caught with their hand in the public till, doesn't pay their taxes, or is exposed getting a cushy overpaid job for their spouse. If being a member of La Raza somehow now justifies that focus or total lack of objectivity, I guess we'll all find out soon enough.
ReplyDeleteYou might discontinue listing all the other blogs on your site, though, T. That will just make it too easy.
Are you trying to get your brown card back Tony? Tendrás que hacer mucho más que eso ahora que hiciste ni madres para defender a la comunidad cuando tus padrotes, que diga patrones Rizzo y Sanders nos dicidieron chingar.
ReplyDeleteHuevos puto!
Nice description of the word la raza you moron. Like the other anti-latino idiots reading this blog, you fail to understand the simple realities of language and culture. It goes like this:
ReplyDeleteIn Spanish nobody uses "La Raza" when referring to "Race" unless they are referring to an animal. When using "La Raza" and speaking about people the word means "the people" or "the community". "Mi Raza" means "my people" meaning those literally from my community or neighborhood.
Close, 8:01. I just read the Wikipedia's useage; its useage of La Raza means Latino people, not the broader 'human people'. When Indians use "the People", they mean their own tribe.
ReplyDeleteJust as La Raza is an organization for browns what NAACP is for blacks. And what the Klan is for white Southerners.
And what Peta is for non human animals. And NOW only for women.
All advocacy groups. With Tony coming out blatantly as he has, its pretty much up to the politicos at city hall and the court house to either support him after the election to keep him viable as a KC influence, or abandon him to be just an advocate for a minority.
Like his mistake for allowing epithet comments against women and minorities, I think he's made a mistake by declaring himself as a racial partisan.
I think it would be best to NOT pretend to be a legitimate journalistic medium if that's the case.
He should quit hiding his racial attitudes among the reprints of other news outlets legitimate news. And occasional rumors that turn out to be generally true because they come from anonymous insiders. What TKC is now doing is like Fox hiding their libertarian and conservative propaganda between real news reporting.
That's what Rush calls "the New Media". Not to be confused with "the NEWS Media" but clearly that is EXACTLY their intention. To confuse the sheep.
Fact is, if you can't trust your news outlets, why read them at all other than for entertainment and curiosity? I know, I know. A lot of people watch Glenn and read the supermarket tabloids.
IMHO, there's no reason to read the tabloids but there IS a reason to read Glenn. That's to see what the sheep have been fed so the rest of us know the extent of the ignorance in America.
As to La Raza and this blog? Sigh. We have less to fear of THEM as we do the corporations.
It won't be Illegals taking to the street. No balls. No sense of nationalism, only a sense of color and culture. They'll work for peanuts. It will be Americans doing what the Egyptians are doing when we're robbed enough we can't eat, get to work, GET work, and have health care for our children.
Demanding our country back from the money interests--billionaires like the Koch Libertarians, not those doing roof work and selling drugs for the cartels.
Big mistake Tony, moving into America and rejecting the melting pot concept and the rule of law, that made us great.
Succeed united, fail divided. That's what the South tried 150 years ago, and they have yet to fully recover from their War of the Lost Cause.
This thread is stupid. I like the photo.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteWell said Rman.

ReplyDeleteradioman thinks he's very wise.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could stop all of this division of people!! We're all human beings. No one person or race is better than another. Tony, by signing up to La Raza, you are perpetuating this racial/cultural division. We need to stop putting labels on people and just learn to treat everyone with respect unless given a reason not to.
ReplyDeleteYou should go get your $15 back and buy your self dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant. Expand your horizons!!
9:44... oh so politically correct. And so wrong. naive. Sorry. Inequality begins after a newborn takes his/her first breath.
ReplyDeleteEven ants all look alike from six feet above them. But some are faster, some can lift bigger sand boulders and some ants can most certainly kick other ants' asses.
Maybe to YOU they're all the same.
As said in Animal Farm. All animals are equal. Some are more equal than others.
Not MY wisdom, but wise nonetheless.
Rizzo gives Lali $600 during his election, Lali gives Tony the money, Tony goes all in for Rizzo.

Do you have any proof that Lali gave Tony any money Chris?
ReplyDeleteHa, Ha, Ha.. i bet they don't even know you exsist.
