Mike Burke for Mayor Receives Support from Kansas City Ministers

(KANSAS CITY, MO.) – Today the Mike Burke for Mayor campaign is proud to announce the support and endorsement of six area clergymen.

Pastor Ron Lindsay, and Reverends Dr. Wallace S. Hartsfield, II, Wallace S. Hartsfield, Kenneth Ray and Michael Brooks joined with Bishop Mark Tolbert in their support for Mike Burke for Mayor. “As leaders of our community, we believe Mike Burke is the right choice for mayor to lead our city during this challenging time,” stated Bishop Mark Tolbert of Victorious Life Church.

“Mike Burke is the only mayoral candidate that backs up his words of inclusiveness with real actions,” said Rev. Dr. Wallace Hartsfield II of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. “We feel that he is truly committed to working with our communities, fighting to have our voices heard and represented in city government.”

Burke has been working diligently in the city’s Third and Fifth Districts, pledging his commitment to communities that often feel thoroughly neglected by their city government. Recently, Burke opened a second campaign office location in the heart of Kansas City’s Jazz District at 18th and Vine.

“I am humbled and honored to receive the support of Pastor Lindsay, Rev. Ray, Rev. Brooks, Rev. Dr. Hartsfield, Rev. Hartsfield and Bishop Tolbert,” Burke said. “I am committed to bringing the concerns of this community to the mayor’s office. These neighborhoods are concerned with jobs, education, economic development in the urban core, housing, basic services and crime and it’s time that city leadership heard them and worked together to bring about sensible solutions,” continued Burke.

  2. Other than Tolbert and Brooks, all of those guys supported Janice Ellis in 2007. Look what that did for her.

  3. Right after he dropped some Benjamin's on them and promised that they would get their cut after he's elected.

    It's the AA way.

  6. Pay to play, or in this case, pay to lose.
There's some new leadership trying to break out in the b;ack community, but the same old gang is doing everyithing it can to shut them down.
With folks like Grant, Adams, Simmons, Curls, and Ray not much change is likely to happen. Just ride around the east side and see the results of their work on every block.
They've used the community enough. Way past time for them all to go!

  7. So where did Rev. Miles go? Is he the only one who listened to his congregation after the last election? That crew lost their grassroots support when they jumped ship and got paid off by the Republicans in the Governor's race.

  8. Ray will make sure that Miles gets his share.

  17. Chuck..."politically correct" is another term for the right thing to do. It's an uncomfortable way of life for those who would otherwise act in a manner that is morally wrong. For some of us, it's protection of our rights as people. For you, it's "PC shit." It's something that is said when one cannot intelligently address the issues at hand. I will keep this in mind when I read future comments made by you.

  18. For all of you wondering WTF "Chuck" keeps ranting about "...fuck[ing] the zeitgeist", here's what it's all about:
"The concept of Zeitgeist goes back to Johann Gottfried Herder and other German Romanticists, such as Cornelius Jagdmann, but is best known in relation to Hegel's philosophy of history. In 1769 Herder wrote a critique of the work Genius seculi by the philologist Christian Adolph Klotz and introduced the word Zeitgeist into German as a translation of genius seculi (Latin: genius -"guardian spirit" and saeculi -"of the age"). The German Romanticists habitually attempted to reduce the past to essences and treated the Zeitgeist as a historical character in its own right, rather than a generalized description for an era.

There now Chuck, it's been explained you can now STFU about it!
