Right now I'm tired so this is gonna be quick, I think I'm sort of exhausted because Mayor Funky's last desperate hope for re-election involves mudslinging and dragging Kansas City through the dirt with him.
CHECK THE TOP THREE DUMB AND PROBABLY DANGEROUS MOVES BY MAYOR FUNKY REGARDING THE PORT AUTHORITY STORY HE IS PUSHING!!!
1. Mayor Funkhouser is on-record providing details of FBI questioning AND talking about what he says is an an on-going Federal Investigation.
Think about that for a second.
Now, anybody who is even REMOTELY familiar with law enforcement and the FEDS know that they don't like people going to the press with their business. In fact, that's pretty much the dumbest move anybody even remotely connected with one of these investigations can make.
Furthermore, Mayor Funky blabbing about the details of an ongoing Federal Investigation may be something more significant than just another faux-paus in an endless cycle. More to come on that one . . .
2. A Kansas City Political Expert kind enough to talk to TKC on this subject reminds us of a bit of Kansas City political history regarding this subject:
NOT SO LONG AGO JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE KATHRYN SHIELDS WANTED TO SEND THE FEDS AFTER COMPETING POLITICOS AND IN THE END SHE WOUND UP FACING FED CHARGES!!!
The Shields ruckus between then Prosecutor Mike Sanders and the one-time Queen of Jackson County was even more contentious than the current Port Authority fight. However, when Shields started a game involving the Feds and it quickly turned against her . . . There is enough precedent for Mayor Funky to be VERY CAUTIOUS when summoning the FBI . . . They don't work for him or his wife.
3. I keep hearing that The Star is working on something really big regarding this Port Authority hot mess but their debut piece in this scandal didn't do much of anything and failed to get ANYBODY besides insiders talking.
I know a lot of people don't vote in Kansas City so the folks who constantly watch this stuff feel more important . . . However, so far this story simply isn't registering with the public because, frankly, it's convoluted and playing by the rules when it comes to minority contracting HAS NEVER been a big concern in Kansas City.
To wit, this Port Authority Hot Mess along with the silly and somewhat dangerous game being played by Mayor Funky is just another sign that Kansas City politics has degenerated during his tenure and the outgoing Mayor continues to drag Kansas City through the mud in his desperate attempt to cling to power.
No Sir, I don't it.
ReplyDeletelike it.
ReplyDeleteTony, you dropped a word there. You meant to say "I don't LIKE" it, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteMe, I found that piece long and rambling. And you'r right the PAHM (that's "Port Authority Hot Mess") is so vague I've forgotten what's hot, what's messy, and why does landlocked KC have a port authority? I know it doen'st have anything to do with riverboats, because they're just bathtub toys for foolish grownups.
Anyway, admit it. We all have a fascination with MIB (that'd be the "Men in Black.") But we're actually past that. Now it's all about Criminal Minds, NCIS, and the various shades of major market forensic whodunits.
Radioman you are such an idiot at times. I suppose the barges along the Missouri Rivers would just toss goods to the shore like news papers being delivered?
ReplyDeleteYou moron!!
Tony you claimed it was not true? Now you are claiming it is true but dangerous?
ReplyDeleteTony is now the spokesperson for the Democratic Party and Law enforcement....
ReplyDeleteExcept in cases involving Hookers and drug dealers in Northeast. It makes you wonder why?
Do not relect any incumbent for any office. Then watch the new administration like a hawk, that is our responsibility. Let the FBI do its job so that no criminal gets away, even though it might be your favorite candidate. Kansas City has been harmed and needs justice. We all know there is corruption. Ignore the apathy from non Kansas Citians who see Kansas City as existing solely for their entertainment and to provide a vehicle for their detached and aloof criticism. Send the message to prospective office holders that corruption will not be tolerated. The time is now.
ReplyDeleteLandlocked KC? To borrow a phrase, what a moron radioman is. You can ride the mighty mo to the mississippi and out to the gulf. Many local sailboaters do all the time.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiot.
"Port" as used here means "door". The "Port of Amsterdam" is called a port because its a door to the land.
ReplyDelete'Hannibal et porticus.' translates to 'Hannibal is at the door."
The only person who says there is an investigation is your mayor.
Me personally, I would like to see behind the curtain.
ReplyDeleteLast week I was corrected by a commenter (No diss, I have no real idea if he was righ or wrong.) when I bitched about insider back room deals and the 9 million dollar payout that went to a lawyer working for the PA, who just happened to have an excavating company handy to collect the check for what was a de facto no bid contract. The commenter said that Mike Burke was innocent and didn't know what he was signing. I don't know if that is true, how could I? How could most of usin the street know? We don't. But, what people in the street do know, is that Denmark stinks like fuckin shit right now.
The entire imbroglio reeks, I mean fuckin REEKS of insider politics, and although I undersatnd that nothign was technically done that breaks the law, this was VERY unprofessional.
This is NOT just another PR nightmare for the movers and shakers down at City Hall and kleptocrats within close proximity of the stench.
This is the usual suspects, engaging in the usual boilerplate political maneurvering, which line the pockets of political insiders at the expense of the citizenry.
Pull back the curtain, lets have a look. I can take it.
Byron, shove it up your back porticus!
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:47 AM
ReplyDeleteGet back to work! Oh, that's right, you are working.
No offence to Byron-but 1/6/11 9:47 AM made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteByron, you know I love ya, but that is pretty funny.
ReplyDelete9:47 You are going to get that weasel Byron excited.
ReplyDeleteTony you drag KC through the mud nonstop.
ReplyDeleteByron, how is it that you are so smart and your brother is so dumb? Pleas move here and lead us. We need help.
ReplyDeleteChuck, & others,
ReplyDeleteI suppose it was funny.
Hannibal et porticus. His elephants will make a big mess, because they are not easily controlled.
Sometimes they trample the people who presume to handle them.
Byron, your ancient Carthaginian military leader references are just too far above the heads of us typical TKC doucebags. Can you rephrase your opinions by citing analogies that are little more familiar to us, like say, "Family Guy" or "South Park"? I await with breathless anticipation.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:17 AM
ReplyDeleteNo. I've never watched South Park or Family Guy. The analogy I used was clear.
Mark has a Ph.D.; I am uneducated. Ask him to explain it to you.
Barbarians at the gate.
ReplyDeleteLike that.
An imminent threat of complete destruction.
Do you remember that old western on TV that starred James Drury, Doug McClure, and Lee J. Cobb? I think it was called the Carthaginian. Maybe it wasn't a western. It was about a river barge stuck up some commenters ass in here.
ReplyDeleteRadioman your attempt at a save also made me smile. Your points were well delivered until the landlocked KC part. Do you remember that old tv show Lost in Space? You sounded just like Dr. Smith with that stupid landlocked comment.
ReplyDeleteRizzo family members and donors at the center of house investigation.
ReplyDeleteWhere is that post Tony?
This port authority thing might just turn out to be something Tony. Just watch.
ReplyDeleteOk, thats funny Rman.
ReplyDeleteGO FBI!!! Open the door to investigations. Maybe you can light the fire under the local county prosecutors to investigate funky for nepotism. Let the light in.
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to see that photo of the large cargo vessel entering the Port of Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke!
Vulgar, juvenile, homophobic, bathroom 'humor' isn't funny.
ReplyDeletePeople are dying, birds are falling from the sky, fish are dying ... & you guys make pathetic non-jokes.
funk you, Tony, so you support crime and corruption in KC, you get cursed
ReplyDeleteByron, to be healthy and apparently saner, experts say you must laugh at least 72 times a day. So, because we aren't beneficial to your health, perhaps you can share some genuinely funny Byron humor. You've go center stage. Let the count down begin.
ReplyDeleteByron and chuck are probably the best people on this blog (including Tony) and they rarely agree with each other . The rest is just insider bullshit.
ReplyDeleteOK, Anon 7:39 PM here's a joke for you: Mayor Mark Squitiro Funkhouser.
ReplyDelete(Not very funny? These are hard times. To quote Spock, "Life is not a dream.")
What's really funny is that he may be your best choice, because despite his delusions, he is not a crook.
Whenever his actions look 'fishy'; its just that he's stupid, not dishonest.
Anon 10:10 PM
Thank you for the kind words. Chuck probably would agree with me on this.:)
