TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! MAYORAL CANDIDATE HENRY KLEIN TALKS KANSAS CITY CRIME AT THE WESTPORT BRIAN EUSTON MEMORIAL!!!

It's the most important subject in Kansas City and few Mayoral Candidates have anything solid to say about violent crime and homicide in Kansas City. In fact, some candidates seem altogether disconnected from the problem.

Therefore, it's nice to see Kansas City Mayoral Candidate Henry Klein setting the tone in the Kansas City Mayoral Race and addressing the topic of local crime and murder WITH A VID THAT STARTS OUT AT THE BRIAN EUSTON MEMORIAL!!!

Here's the statement from the candidate that goes along with the vid:

"It goes without saying that all of us know we have a crime problem here in Kansas City but what was so compelling and shocking was the actual statistics behind this. For KC to be more dangerous than 98% of the cities in the U.S. is not only a crisis but it begs the question; why isn't this issue front and center in the mayoral race for every candidate?

We've watched for too long as those that could have made a difference, particularly at city hall, choose to isolate this problem and content it isn't their issue or their responsibility since we don't have local control. If I was an elected official or part of the old guard, these numbers are so bad, I wouldn't talk about this problem either if I were them.

I made this issue one of the key campaign themes four years ago and the situation has only gotten worse. The Klein Campaign will make this one of the top issues of our campaign again. In the business world, we understand that what gets measured gets fixed. I will be bringing that same sense of urgency to city hall. Our citizens must be and feel safe in our city."

  1. Brian Euston's death should not prop up Klein's mayoral run.
Brian was a sweet kid who grew into a very decent young man.

  2. We've watched for too long as those that could have made a difference"......... Yeah like our Police Department. Maybe a decent Homicide clearance rate ? Poor performance should not be rewarded with a paycheck.

  3. you can't blame the police entirely for the low homicide clearance, when there is little information given to you to go on, and the people responsible can find safe harbor in their communities, how can somebody possible expect results when the trail gets wiped over?

  4. Apples and oranges when you compare thousands of tiny towns across the US with major metro areas. 98% doesn't mean anything. Nice of some kids to send him the link to help his campaign however.

  5. So where has Henry Klein been, doing anything at all for the City, no, he just continues to run for mayor. Obviously he's not very committed to the City. (and yes, I know he does a little time with Habitat...not nearly enough for a mayoral resume)

  6. The small town where I'm from had 1 robbery and 5 assaults total for the year and shows as 33% safer than the rest of the cities in the US. I want to base my campaign on stats like that?

  7. Wow. Thanks for wasting 4 minutes and 22 seconds of my day!

Did he really point towards a study done by the girls at St. Theresa's Academy???

The clip would have been alot more entertaining if he would have gone to 27th & Prospect and filmed any portion of it. Take a second camera when the first one gets stolen during mugging.

That is some ground breaking shit when you have an election for one member of the police board.

    What a snoozer!

  8. How many of the deaths were gang related?

  11. Henry has one good idea about the police board. That's the first way to transition it to all totally local controlled.

  12. Why waste time and space giving attention to these candidates that aren't going to go anywhere?

  13. Charles is right.

Go to 27th and Prospect, take 4 cameras, Seal Team 6, lay down some suppressing fire, aquire targets and begin to film.

    Watch your 6.

    "HATE CRIME AT 2 O'CLOCK!!"

    Good luck.

  14. Good for Mr. Klein to be the first mayoral candidate to make public safety a serious issue in his campaign.
And as for talking about the Brian Euston tragedy, at least he's not making a buck off a grieving family like Al Brooks!

  15. Henry Klein is a slimy creepy guy with no ideas, no plan and no resume. He's a loser.

  16. Is this another mayoral candidate that has NEVER set foot into the "inner city"? Why didn't he go to 18th & Grand outside Balanca's where a murder happened the same weekend?

  17. When my house got broken into and robbed this summer, the crime problem became very real to me personally. I agree that crime is one of KC's top problems.
