TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! BAD SUITS AND MISSING MEC CAMPAIGN FILING RAISE QUESTIONS ABOUT KANSAS CITY 3RD DISTRICT COUNCIL CANDIDATE JERMAINE REED!!!
I want to be forthright about this one . . . My first impression of Jermaine Reed was horrible.
In a 3rd District Forum he refused to speak after open invitation and even Kansas City Star Columnist Lewis Diuguid grew exasperated with his childish behavior. "Your silence speaks volumes," Diuguid said in front of the crowd and quickly moved forward.
Later on, I had the opportunity to ask the guy a couple of questions and found the 20-something to be cagey and aloof. That's cool, I had a bacon cheeseburger before the forum and didn't have any gum on hand, so maybe it was my fault the aspiring politico didn't want to answer a simple question about his unwillingness to speak publicly.
After the meeting and thanks to Google I discovered that he wasn't a stranger to political activity and in 2001 was awarded "The Best Student Activist" by The Pitch for his work in high school and a bunch of media partnerships with Former Council Dude Alvin Brooks. His last known gig was as the "ombudsman" for The Green Impact Zone.
Impressive titles and honors like that would lead me to believe that he would be on top of his campaign game. Nevertheless and as of this writing . . .
THE KANSAS CITY 3RD DISTRICT CAMPAIGN FOR JERMAINE REED IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ON THE MEC WEBSITE!!!
Go look for yourself . . . Do a name search by Candidate for Reed that lists every candidate in the State of Missouri and you'll see nothing related to the Kansas City 3rd District race. I did the search and found other candidates from Missouri with the last name Reed but no Jermaine. Strangely, he's already registered as a candidate with KCMO Clerk's office and advice from the Clerk notes that it's the candidate's responsibility to file with the MEC. All of the serious candidates running for Council in KC have already filed their paperwork.
This is troubling for two reasons . . .
GIVEN THAT JERMAINE REED DOESN'T HAVE ANY CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS ON FILE, HIS GOOD GOVERNMENT RHETORIC REGARDING ACCOUNTABILITY SEEMS DISINGENUOUS!!!
As of now, NOBODY knows where Jermaine Reed's cash is coming from despite a high profile fundraiser at Gates and another undisclosed location. I hear he drives a fancy car and his suits are sharp even though I think they make him look like the shortest member of The Rat Pack . . . Yes, even including Sammy D.
Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention that his connections to Brooks and The Police Board have come into question in a community that has often had a tenuous relationship with the KCPD.
There's still plenty of time for Reed to get his act together but his unwillingness to stand up and speak for himself without the aid of his handlers and old school political friends isn't promising and doesn't bode well for his chances to lead the 3rd District in a monumentally important election.
Nor has Ken Bacchus filed now what?

This guy came back from DC thinking he had this for the taking-it seems he is learning otherwise. I spoke to some Freedom folks who read some questionnaire of his and it was written horribly and full of errors and misspellings according to them. The scenario is your candidates in the 3rd are Saunders-Brooks, Fletcher, & Reed...who is the best candidate to lead...who has the best plan for the 3rd. It isn't about age, clothes, cars, and sexual preference...if that is your hang-up, go vote for Homecoming Queen. Or better yet, get your lazy ass up and run for a political seat. In closing, check the deadline for when paperwork needs to be filed, before claiming a candidate legitimate or not. Have a Merry Christmas!

Being apart of Young THUGGS is a way for people who would like to be apart of union issues with out being apart of a union to support working people. For example, in Missouri, if you are not in a union, you are an at-will employee. At-will employment is defined in a doctrine of American Law that defines an employment relationship in which either party can break the relationship with no liability, provided there was no express contract for a definite term governing the employment relationship and that the employer does not belong to a collective bargain (i.e., has not recognized a union). Under this legal doctrine:
"any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work."
We need to keep in mind the struggles and advances of our predecessors so we can learn and grow as a society as well as not repeating mistakes. Lets embrace the fight for equalization despite age or race, and become and active member by be coming a THUGG!

Brandon Ellington when you hear him speak you will feel the passion and earnestly that this man has for KcMo.I haven't witness no other candidates doing their own campaigning Brandon is out there among the people. So called Power leaders slept on this young man because his name wasn't familiar to you but if you would have just asked regular folks we would have told you. I remember at one of Brandons meet and greet someone asked a question about Melba and I was impressed when Brandon responded The only opponent I have is those that don't vote! He is a remarkable, likable,approachable no nonsense in your face,down for the people .can and does identify with the community he chooses to serve and if God is willing I will be knocking ion doors with Brandon Ellington in the Northland!

I can not keep seating by watching this city fall, So I will be looking for new candidates in those districts that cares about the city point blank no more politics for me.
