TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITIZENS ASSOCIATION RESPONSE TO RESIGNATION!!!

Just last night, Dan Porrevecchio took the limelight away from the Mayoral Debate by grabbing center stage and noting his objections to the Citizens Association process.

TKC IS FIRST TO BREAK THE NEWS AND TEXT OF THE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION RESPONSE TO THESE ALLEGATIONS!!!

Check the response from Citizens Association Chair Cheryl Bisbee:

As you know, I did not reject the opportunity to have a televised debate. In fact, all of the media outlets were advised in advance of our screening process, including the debate, and all were welcome to cover these as they desired.

I also understand that while you supported adding a debate into the screening process this year, you strongly believed that Mayor Funkhouser should have been invited to participate in that debate regardless of whether he had any chance of winning the Citizens Association endorsement. A majority of our Board, however, including myself, disagreed with you and believed that it was more important to maintain the integrity of our screening process by advancing only those candidates who the Board wanted to hear more from and who had chance of winning the Citizens Association endorsement. I feel that it is necessary to remind you that in addition to Mayor Funkhouser, two other mayoral candidates, Charles Wheeler and Henry Klein, were also eliminated from the screening process after the second stage because of the lack of support they had on our Board.

I completely disagree with your opinion that our process was not inclusive and not transparent. I am actually very proud of the thoughtful and deliberate process that your subcommittee developed and our Board of Directors accepted to screen the mayoral candidates this year. I firmly believe that the principles that our organization stands for, good government and broad participation, are alive and well and will continue to serve as the organization’s foundation going forward.

Thank you for your years of active participation in the Citizens Association and, regrettably, I accept your resignation.

Sincerely,

Cheryl

  2. I thought the board made a recommendation to the membership and they selected someone for endorsement. I guess they decided the pesky process of having to convince their dues paying membership was too tiresome? I call BS. Let them all participate and let the chips fall where they may.

  3. Careful there Cheryl. The truth may get out yet. Sometimes it is better to just shut up and be glad the guy was not completly forthcoming with the media.

I bet there are more resignations coming.

  5. Dan is correct in his conclusions. Actually he should have told the whole truth and blown the C.A. wide open. It is a way for Oneill to start a candidate out with some action and get paid.

  6. Funny how a political organization doesn't have any political sense.

How in the world does an organization claim to have principles of good government, when a tiny number of their board of self-important pecksniffs then arbitrarily decides to eleminate candidates from having an opportunity to further express their views?
    What an arrogant ridiculous joke!

  8. The real punchline is this, three of the four were allowed to be there for the debate in hopes of making Burke look viable. They knew IN ADVANCE that they were endorsing Mike. The questions were loaded and the back room remarks of Cheryl were obviously designed to insult Hermann because so many of them were refusing to give up on her. I will be very surprised if there were multiple resignations today. Tony, can you follow up and find out?

  9. Cheryl B. has her own set of priorities, and if you aren't on board, she'll get it done ANY way possible. Look at the renaming of the Benton Circle over here in her own neighborhood. She wanted the name changed to honor her deceased neighbor. She voted (parks board) to do so without even checking with the neighborhood. Long story short - the Benton Circle kept its name, but now about 100 feet of street around the circle are named after her deceased neighbor. She gets her way thats for sure! We are waiting for Gladstone Boulevard to be renamed Bisbee Blvd one of these days. She thinks she is pretty powerful. She's pretty sneaky (not to mention MEAN) and should be watched at all times!

Why was O'Neill kicked out of the CA?

  11. 10:35 is oh so correct. The CA should be apolitical but sadly it's not. Good for Dan. He should have done it long ago.
