In the Jackson County 2nd District At-Large race TKC supports Legislative Chairman Henry Rizzo.
Mostly because this blog has more reporting than The Star on this race and I'm convinced of one thing . . .
CRYSTAL WILLIAMS IS A CANDIDATE BROUGHT TO JACKSON COUNTY BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO GAVE US MAYOR FUNKHOUSER'S FAILED TENURE!!!
Yael, The Star and Mr. Peanut have put their money and influence behind Crystal despite the fact that she has little experience or skill.
I'm following the lead of Theresa Garza-Ruiz on this one when she voted for him as Legislative Chair not so long ago and continues to vote with him most of the time.
I think my best post on the subject is simply a request from Crystal to compare resumes . . . Crystal's record as a highly paid healthcare industry lobbyist just didn't measure up.
Rizzo has a long record of interaction with Kansas City's Latino Community and he's the candidate that La Raza Political Club endorses as well. The overwhelming majority of Crystal Williams sign have come down on the Westside, Karnes Blvd and Midtown after word of some mis-characterizations regarding Crystal's Latino Support.
Crystal has really always been more representative of the Brookside liberal elite crowd anyway.
Contrastingly, Henry Rizzo was also raised in an immigrant and ethnic community and that's a perspective that's important to have at The Jackson County level as the demographics of the metro are always in flux.
But most importantly, the broad array of Union and Community support finally convinced me that Rizzo was the better candidate. While, Crystal hopes to draw power from a small coven of professional politically elite (white) women -- Henry is out there talking to EVERYONE from the Eastside to Eastern Jack and every other corner of Jackson County.
In this race, without question the candidate with the most community support is Henry Rizzo and that's why TKC is finally counted among those ranks.
