ReplyDeleteWhile Ms Sharrod is obviously a sweet lady (Check out the videos, I want her to make me some cookies too.) whose comments were taken out of context, those comments and the wrongs over the last 2000 years by various and sundry govts the world over, do NOT mean that all white people hate all brown people, or, that all white people have to feel guilty.
If you only identify with the color of your skin, and view the totality of hte universe through the prism, that is personified to you personally through the color of your skin, than the ticket for that boat ride comes out of YOUR pocket.
Enjoy it! Wear the T shirt, see the movies, eat the ice cream, read the books, but most of us crackers are sick of the whole genre. Its the worst fake reality show you can catch. Poorly acted (For the unititiated, reality shows are scripted, just like the "white people are evil movement".), with monotonous plots, forseeable outcomes, endlessly whining, narcissistic housewives of brown people nation want stuff for just looking good, or brown or whatever.
I am going to go back to the History channel, which acurately depicts the good and bad of our freshly remembered past in more relaistic terms. Historical documented terrms.
Gotta go to work--quit bitching and figure out your problems with real time utilitarian solutions that go forward, not back.

Mary Sanchez' column was a good one as far as it went, but the real issue I believe is the ability of media to manipulate news and people's tendency to jump to conclusions without thought. We've become a nation of incredibly gullible idiots just waiting to be led by our noses. This is just the latest example. The Duke University lacrosse fiasco was another (although the racial roles were reversed). We're getting to be too reliant on others to tell us what to think--much like people who trust their car navigation systems over their own observations. ("It looks like a river to me, but my GPS says there's a bridge here, so I'll just follow my GPS.")

Just look at all the pseudo-science we're asked to swallow--coffee is bad for you; no, wait--it's good for you, the climate is warmer than ever--if you completely ignore the years from 800 to 1200 AD, as global warmers hope you will, etc.
It's so hard to separate what's valid from what's bullshit that I just assume it's all bullshit until proven beyond a doubt otherwise.
