While not as strong as Jodie Marsh, there were still a great many winners this week in Kansas City.
Let's make this quick:
POLITICOS
1. Beth Gottstein - No City Council Candidate Is Stronger Going Into Election Season.
2. Jason Kander - Big Fundraiser Picnic Coming Up This Weekend. EVERYONE important in KC politics will be there.
3. Terry Riley - He's making a Jackson County incumbent and his pals nervous. Without Question.
4. Mike Talboy - The Kansas City State Rep. Earned a shout out from the Gov. upon signing of the Ford Tax Credits and a major victory for the Dems.
5. Deb Hermann - The Council Lady withstood another week of criticism as Kansas City's front runner mayoral candidate and that's a strong sign of her durability at the outset of this election.
NEWSIES
1. Nick Dutcher And DeAnn Smith - A really brave move by Kansas City's best reporters openly mourning the death of a very well-liked colleague. To compare other newsies at this point would be unfair.
INFLUENTIAL LOCALS
1. Harris Wilder - Anybody running for office who hasn't at least tried to get some face time with this important local lawyer and political denizen simply hasn't done their homework.
2. Dutch Newman - A legendary local lady looks to be greatly at work influencing the next election.
3. Lali Garcia - Still the most powerful lady in the Latino Community.
4. Carol Coe - The lady did a rather great job speaking up for The Black Agenda Group this week.
5. Alonzo Washignton - Blogging and doing a commendable job spreading a very important anti-violence message across Kansas City.
As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it's the strongest guide to local powerful people.

ReplyDeleteBye Beth...
ReplyDeleteWho can beat her? nobody that's who!
ReplyDeletedeb hermann will not be frustrated by the co-mayors antics.
ReplyDeleteGot a Riley mailer today. If I was thinking of voting for him I'm not now. What trash. Can't say what he does just tear down Arbanas with alot of trash. Riley earns a bigger City pension and his salary as a City Councilman is three times what a County Legislator makes. He also has gotten about $100,000 a year in office expenses which he spents or goes over every year. I now know that I don't want to bring the antics he has been playing at City Hall to the County. This mail piece is what's wrong with politcs. My vote goes for Mr. Reliable---Arbanas.
ReplyDeleteTerrible Faux Riley & Crazy Carol Coe - Yeah, that's the ticket!!
ReplyDeleteI always thought Arbanas' Campaign team went to sleep at 530pm?
ReplyDeleteCarol Coe. Racist, felonious thug with the IQ of a starfish.
ReplyDeleteNO wonder she is so popular.
I need more advil.
Chuck,
ReplyDeleteYou're really being terribly unfair to us starfish!

ReplyDeletehe lifts money from restaurant table. Now that is low. I see him at PLD & will be watching. And the word is out on him
Oh God is the restaurant rumor new? Stupid.
ReplyDeleteI just found out about it this morning so it is NEW to me. Whether its New or Old information its still worth noting.
ReplyDeleteHe is a disgrace and this action demonstrates he can not be trusted. We work hard to earn our money and he is nothing but a big loser and thug.
The next time I see him he will be confronted with this and I'll make sure I have witnesses.
Carol Coe and Terry Riley.
ReplyDeleteOh, God.
When will it end?
When will KC African-Americans have Council members they can be proud of?
It's been along time since we've had someone of the caliber of Rev. Cleaver. Too long.
Any really ... can we stop with the nonsesense that Fletcher will be any different?
There are a LOT of talented, ethical blacks in this City; they need to be encouraged to run and we need to support them!
Both Coe and Riley are racists. At least Terry seems to shower with some regularity. Coe stinks to high heaven. People appear to be paying rapt attention to her speaking, but they are really just holding their breath.
ReplyDeleteI didnt know Beth was running
ReplyDeleteTony,
ReplyDeleteSince Alonzo is your favorite "crime fighter", although it's hard to see what he's doing given the number of murders so far this year, at least you could spell his last name correctly on your blog.
