TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! SHAKESPEARE ENTHUSIASTS CAUSE DAMAGE TO A KANSAS CITY PARK JUST LIKE ROCKFEST FANS!!!

It seems that all of Kansas City is a bit frustrated at the hypocrisy of Parks Board Member Aggie Stackhaus and her silly attempt to draw even more dividing lines among the diverse group of people who use Kansas City Parks.
To wit . . . A RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTER offers us an education and a glimpse at some damage done by some local groundlings at the recent Shakespeare Festival at Southmoreland Park.
Check it:
Look at the horrible damage in South Moreland Park caused by the Shakespeare Festival!
"Those terrible adults are no better than the kids at Rockfest. I guess when "parks are not for the people or animals" Park Board Commissioner Aggie Stackhaus sees this it will be the last year for the Shakespeare in the Park. Parking for those of us who live nearby was awful every night for 3 weeks.
The festival has been over for more than a week and look at the mess. Will the grass grow back, not according to Aggie . . . All that debris is perfect for a bonfire that the homeless who hang out in the park could set anytime.
Aggie---save us from ourselves!!!"
I detect a bit of irony in the note from this AWESOME TKC TIPSTER even if my comprehension of Iambic pentameter isn't up to snuff.
Nevertheless, the lesson here is that damage to local parks isn't about class, or entertainment preference . . . It's merely a fact of life despite Aggie's snooty worldview.
I guess parks are only for people running the wide swath mowers and the people driving by in their cars?
ReplyDeleteShouldn't be a problem. If youre going to make a great meal, youre going to make a mess in the kitchen. So why have a kitchen? To cook in or to show off to you friends or for Better Homes & Gardens mag layouts?
We all pay a lot of taxes for parks. Rock fans as well. Use them or just turn them into condos!
Like humans, they clean up pretty well too.
No comparison.
ReplyDeleteThis is repaired every year once the run is done. This is paid for and taken care of. The rain during Rockfest made for a huge rubbed-out mess, with the grass being obliterated and huge mud stretches made all over the park. Rockfest was a surprise situation. The Shakespeare deal is not and never is and, again, is paid for and taken care of--and a far smaller scale mess and problem--than this year's Rockfest mess.

So you agree with kicking rockfest out pfl0w? Uncool.
ReplyDeleteYes the park near the Plaza is smaller but still a great comparison to Rockfest. What the tipster did not show are the very deep ruts caused by heavy trucks that run from photo ALL the way through the park down to Cleaver Blvd. And yes it will grow back and yes more rain fell during the Shakespeare Festival than last year not unlike Rockfest.
ReplyDeleteGreat scoop for Tony and Tipster...saving us from our own special interests and hypocrisy.... this is true 1 st amendment journalism! Good work!
ReplyDeleteEgad! I mistook the huge ruts for some beguiling water diverters! French Drains?
ReplyDeleteSo, where the fuck is that witless, wench Frau Stackhaus? Me thinks she protested Rockfest much too much.
-Me thinks she protested Rockfest much too much.-
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Yet who would have thought the old park to have so much mud in it.
Fair is foul, and foul is fair.
ReplyDeleteLeave Rockfest where it lay.
Pflow, the damages made during Rockfest are also paid for by AEG.
ReplyDeleteNot their fault, those were their salad days, they were green of judgement and cold of blood.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say anything about kicking Rockfest out of the park.
