Finally, today marks THE LAST STATE OF THE SHITTY/CITY ADDRESS FROM MAYOR FUNKY!!!
But that doesn't mean it's not going to be embarrassingly lame. And thanks to KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS . . . We have a bit of a preview.
MAYOR FUNKY REPORTEDLY PLANS TO NOTE HIS DECISION TO VETO HOTEL ORDINANCE 100479 DURING HIS UPCOMING SPEECH!!!
Sadly, this bold move comes to late. Remember that Downtown Hotel ordinance 100479 was "recognized as an emergency ordinance" and that means the Mayor had only 4 calender days to take action. Sadly, the Mayor bolted (retreated) from the session after Council Dude Russ Johnson took him apart and obviously didn't understand the way the big of legislation was put together. The Mayor has been asking around about this one and he simply doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand the way the charter works. When he reads this I'm hoping he changes his mind or yet again we'll see that the emperor has no clothes. Gross.
Therefore . . .
THERE'S A REALLY GOOD CHANCE THAT MAYOR FUNKY MIGHT ONCE AGAIN SHOW HIS IGNORANCE OF THE WAY LOCAL GOVERNMENT WORKS DURING TODAY'S SPEECH!!!
It gets worse, not only does Mayor Funky refuse to understand the inner-workings of City Hall . . . He really has never learned how to deal with people. KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS report:
MAYOR FUNKY'S OFFICE HAS MADE ATTENDANCE AT THE STATE OF THE CITY SPEECH MANDATORY FOR DEPARTMENT HEADS AND REQUIRED THAT THEY BRING AS MANY EMPLOYEES AS POSSIBLE!!!
This is an old trick that's part of the reason why City Hall workers are so often pissed off. Mayor Kay pulled this one a couple of times too. On the bright side, there will be refreshments for those who can stomach the uninformed ranting of the Co-Mayor.

MAYOR FUNKY DIDN'T BOTHER TO EXTEND AN INVITATION TO JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS FOR THIS EPIC STATE OF THE CITY FAIL!!!
Mayor Funky has never made friends among powerful Kansas City politicos and today's State Of The Shitty Address will once again speak to this fact. Every Mayor From Kay To Berkley has at least offered an invite across the street to the County Exec no matter what the political situation. Sadly, since the Co-Mayors take EVERYTHING so personally there has been no olive branch extended to the much more effective elected leader.
So, yet again the incompetence of Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser will be on display and the only solace that voters can find is that it'll be the last time he'll be performing this task.

The Mayor should turn state's evidence against Johnson, Circo and Carlos.

ReplyDeleteCouncil is not attending? That doesn't sound professional or in the interest of representing the people. Sorta like yelling "You Lie" during the President's speech. There are some occasions that should rise above politics and pettiness. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that while he might not understand the City Charter, he also apparently doesn't know how to count. An emergency ordinance takes 9 votes to pass, a veto takes 8 votes to override. This ordinance got 11 votes. 3 council members could fall asleep and miss the meeting and the veto would still be overridden.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the deal with Kim Carlos and why do people hold her with such high disdain? And she doesn't even work on political candidate campaigns anymore. She for sure doesn't work on Johnson's. Just wondering why the venom.

She hires people to work on political campaigns so that she can try to hide her conflicts of interest.
