Just a bit of followup for today . . .
Nebraska hate law was approved last night. Let's remember this connects back to Kansas City because the dude who helped devise it, Kris Kobach works at UMKC.
Nevertheless, The ACLU is already planning a legal fight.
And what's the most fun about all this stuff is that hatred of undocumented, poor, brown people will turn out to be a FINANCIAL DISASTER FOR THE TOWN while Professor Kobach has a long history of making sweet legal fees from his adventures according to a great many newsy links.
Sadly, so few people realize that hate is so very expensive and mostly serves to line the pockets of somebody else.

All that notwithstanding, America MUST get control of its borders.
If the Feds can find me, then why shouldn't they be able to find Jose?
Their is currently NO control, and, the Feds WILL NOT enforce standing laws.
I am sure that thoughtful and concerned Americans, can find a way to bring our southern neighbors into the fold without risking our national security, and forcing small towns and states to polarize the issue, in order to bring attention to it.
The Feds are AWOL on this issue. States and small towns are reacting to the economic pressures of lost jobs and property during a recession.
It is my hope, that cooler heads will prevail, our neighbors to the south will cooperate, and our economy will once again grow to the extent, that we need these hard working people in our workplaces. Until then, America will bend under the crucible, and recent history of economic malfeasance fostered on us by Goldman Sachs, LLoyd Blankfien-Wall Street fuckhead theives, while we folks in the trenches kill each other for scraps.

ReplyDeleteThe problem, Chuck, is that to legally and judicially deport all illegal aliens currently here would take years and clog up our entire federal court system. We have let the problem go so long we just have to zero out everyone still here and focus on illegal newcomers.

ReplyDeleteAnon- 9;44, I don't think he called for deportation of all illegal aliens. Seems that would not meet his criteria for "cooler heads." He's dead on about the Feds being AWOL and creating a situation where local governments are reacting because of the vacuum of leadership.
And methinks Mr. Mc Murphy needs to review the definition of academic freedom. Universities and colleges need to present the broadest possible range of ideas. Only those unwilling or unable to thoughtfully debate an issue clamor for their opponents to be gagged. (Or perhaps they are just residents of an Oregon mental asylum...)
The towns should sue Krzy Kris Kobach for malpractice after he loses the case. I cannot believe the retains his law licenses after all the lies he says..."like seeing illegals vote in Kansas."

The only qualification for the participating law students would be sign an oath to "hate Mexicans." The issue that is getting out of hand is those that are here illegal sucking our welfare system to the point of collapse. 1/3 of all prisoners are illegl, the housing market collapse was largely due to defaulted loans by illegals, illegals have taxed our healthcare system to the point that we will soon have to ration healthcare to ensure "everyone" get near free care. Illegals are preventing millions of Americans from finding employment.

They'd be living in No air conditioning and have no money to eat out at Jardines and drive around at their pleasure.
Maybe Tony hasn't connected the idea that merging Mexico into the US will make all of them like US. He doesn't realize that it will make US more like THEM, instead. Which he probably would not find unacceptable.
After so many decades of blacks an whites in the same society, I'm not so sure that middle class people care so much about RACE/COLOR as they do about preserving their own lifestyles. We want our 2 cars, TV's, yearly vacations and decent homes without bill collectors calling.

The law is about debate. It is about the choices we want to make as a society. The ability to change the law is why we no longer have slavery, why we have equality before the law, and why 18 year olds can vote. If the language of the legislation that Mr. Kobach helped write is deemed unconstitutional, it will no longer be law. All your name-calling won't change that fact.
Wanting to have secure borders does not equal hate. Certainly much easier to reduce it to that than to debate facts.

This year I was confused what this was about when I was denied service at a business for being an illegal.
I was confused on what this was about the 4 times I've been pulled over this summer already while driving under the speed limit courtesy of my cream colored VW Beetle convertible's "suspicious vehicle description" and then told to have a good day after seeing my license and spotless driving record.
