Interesting, she sueing PF Chang's because she a black woman was forced to serve other blacks. Lets face it, blacks are notorous for abusing white servers. I guess it's blacks think it's a revenge thing.

ReplyDeleteI have dozens of friends in the service industry (My wife was a server for 20 years.) and the consensus to a man/woman is that African Americans do not tip, and when they do, their niggardly offerings are far from in line with service rendered and ticket total.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, the nature of the transaction is often needlessly contentious. Further, the disdainful attitude toward the server, coupled with an entitled "Now" attitude, has the server thinking not of financial intercourse, but another kind of intercourse, the kind you might get in Pelican Bay, your first night in.
If you want to wake up and see the sun, face the East. If you want to scratch out a living in the service industry, face the facts.
African Americans don't tip as a rule, and when they do, it is a pittance earned at a humiliating espense.
The irony of an African American, litigating for monies she didnt recieve by way of tips from African Americans is comme il faut in this American zeitgeist.

ReplyDeleteIf racism in this context, is narrowly defined behaviour, based on skin color, that results in pecuniary difficulty for the subjective observer, the concomitant negative connotations that accompany the word "Racism" are not valid here.
Black folks, step up! Tip right--at least 15%. The eateries are only paying about $3/hr to the servers--that's one way the menu prices stay low. If you can't handle that, order carry out. And don't act all entitled and make asshats of yourselves in the restaurant.
