TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! ANOTHER DUMB MISTAKE KANSAS CITY!!! BOTH MAYOR FUNKY AND HIS PEOPLE SHOW LITTLE REGARD FOR ETHICS AT CITY HALL!!!

Kansas City's Mayor has shown horrible leadership when it has come to ethics. He started off his tenure with a sweet Honda Hybrid he ultimately had to give back because even his supporters cried foul.

And then, of course, there have been a litany of other screw-ups that range from racial slurs to fancy Iphones for a so-called unpaid volunteer (Co-Mayor). Also, I still haven't forgotten about the 80k and a Missouri Ethics Commission investigation that nobody really likes to mention.

Sadly, Mayor Funky's tragic mistakes don't stop with his wife . . . Over the past year I've noted that the liberal wanker and failed author Joe Miller is a disaster and mostly suffers from paranoid delusions regarding social justice along with the dream to leave Kansas City behind and become a screenwriter for Lifetime TV - Look for his show soon!!! No kidding.

A MEMBER OF MAYOR FUNKY'S STAFF IS VIOLATING CITY HALL ETHICS REGULATIONS IN ORDER TO PURSUE MORE POLITICAL POWER!!!

Mayor Funky's media spokesman Crispin Rea is running for Committee Person in the 13th Ward.

Just like Miller, who can't manage his way around a Google Search, Crispin didn't research the codes that exist at City Hall which ban employees, even contract employees, from seeking political office.

Of course, this member of Mayor Funky's staff might try to weasel his way out this one by claiming special privilege or some exemption but reporters might recall that a member of Former Mayor Kay's Office also won a seat as a Committee Person and was ultimately forced to resign by the lady Mayor. That's right, without question Mayor Kay's ethics were far more impressive than the so-called reformer, his "Orange Revolution" and his less than competent staff.

Maybe Crispin is planning to leave the Mayor's office and is switching to a volunteer position for the local Dems . . . I doubt it.

BUT ONCE AGAIN THIS SHOW THAT THE MAYOR'S PEOPLE HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ETHICAL GUIDELINES AT CITY HALL!!!

Maybe this is just a mistake by Crispin Rea . . . He could be distracted and desperately missing Funkhouser's daughter Tara who is not interning in the Mayor's office this summer - One less case of nepotism for Mayor Funky by the way.

No matter what, I hope this doesn't mean Crispin is leaving Funkhouser's side given that he is the last minority currently employed in the Mayor's office who has yet to run off because of derogatory names used by Gloria Sqitiro - The Co-Mayor.

  1. "Get the Funk out"

    That's my new slogan Tony.

  2. Crispin is a good kid Tony. Don't pick on him too much. He either made a mistake or maybe he's smarter than you give him credit for and found a loophole. Even the former option would make him better than Miller.

It's a good story. But as one of your most loyal readers I wanted to ask you to take it easy.

  3. I have worked with Crispin and he is a good kid but unfortunately, just like Joe Miller, he was given way more responsibility than he could handle.

I have swung from Funk supporter to damn nearly a recall supporter because of Gloria.

Still I would have to agree with 9:35, give Crispin a break.

  4. What the Funk? Did Mister Mayor give dedicated volunteers a break when he called them "evil" after years of service?

Did the Mayor give a break to the people he wanted to fire at City Hall?

Did the Mayor give Ruth Bates a break before he had her fired?

    No.

When it comes to mercy this Mayor has none. His people believed in him and they seem every bit as out of touch as he is.

  5. Funkhouser has more ethics than Kay?

    I don't think so.

  6. Orange Revolution?

    I don't think so.

  7. I have returned my little friends and I'm here to tell you that I have smelled Funkhouser's wife's feet and she's alright. She will make a good Mayor when she runs for a term someday soon. I'm voting for her.

  8. Give me a fucking break. How is an honorary position that is unpaid any violation of City Hall ethics?

This is a new low even for you Tony. There is no reason you should even be trying to make a big deal out of this.

    A-hole.

  9. Crispin's a good guy. Don't be a jerk Tony.

  10. Of course we can't have any questioning of Mayor Funkhouser's actions, his wife or his staff because he's the Mayor. We're not supposed to question our leaders. They can do whatever they like. This is the same kind of phrasing we hear from those who once supported GW Bush only this time is comes from liberal Funk supporters. It's easy to see how fascism can take hold.

  11. A committee job is NOT a "ceremonial position." The committee is responsible for spending several hundred thousand dollars per election cycle in support of candidates, and picks candidates/office holders when those spots become open (e.g. - When Ronnie Depasco's state senate seat was open becuase he died, Victor Callahan was elected by the committee to serve his term - That is REAL, not "ceremonial" power).

  12. 12:03, Ya, BFD that Crispin is violating city law.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've been in meetings with Crispin and he's a good kid, with kid being the operative word. He's way in over his head and he's constantly calling around seeking advice on how to handle certain constituent groups.

Half of the time he's laughed out of a meeting. This isn't totally his fault, but he should do a better job of preparation and the Mayor should stop feeding him to the wolves.

If Crispin wants to be involved politically, he needs to begin to listen to people who have his best interests and not be the sacrificial lamb for the Mayor because he will soon have no political future at all.

  14. I felt sorry for the guy when the Black Agenda group rightly sent the him packing. He has no experience. He is learning on the job. This is another lesson. He will have to step down from the city hall job or withdraw his name from the committeeman race. I hope he gets a decent job offer and can quit the mayors' office before that group of misogynists is either forced out because of nepotism or a recall... or as a legal deal made by whom ever has a valid claim.

PS Marie Young... why is she trying to change the scope of work done by the Fairness in City Contracts board? Why does she want it to be run like the Fairness in Construction Board.

  15. Call Crispin whatever you want but one thing is for sure he is a Republican. He was a in the republicans club at Park, and also worked for Republican State Senator Charlie Shields.

Just because he was pushed to support Obama to give the mayor's office face in the delegate's group doesn't mean he's a Democrat.

  16. Hello Star? Is it not news that a member of Mayor Funkhouser's staff is violating City law?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Whether Crispin is a good "kid" or not is irrelevant. The laws apply to all...or they should. Maybe he'll lose the election....
What about the big guy in Parks who was on the community college board? Has the STAR investigated him?

  18. Just another attempt to throw out good people and put in cronies like Cauthen does. Give me a break. Get off the Mayor kick and trying to overturn every pebble for a nugget of fuzz. Turn your attention to the City Manager's Office where the porn pushers and pediphilers breed daily. Cauthen and his Riley chump should be investigated for ethics and fiscal irresponsibility. Why can't Tony's mothers crib to first floor level with the A-hole in the basement.

    Frickin' Sorry-A$$ excuse for life.

  19. Yeah, whatever that was 6:15pm. You need a hug.

Back onto topic, one of the Anon's is right Crispin is a Republican and shouldn't be filing for a Democratic office. He's not breaking away the Mayor is trying to make moves out of the weeds.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow she gets rather mad when one of her "boys" is under attack.

Too bad he violated City Hall regulations. But with Funk in charge nobody has to obey the rules.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Crispin told me that he was a college republican also. I agree with 6:26 in that Crispin is not making moves he is being used by Funkhouser to give the office face time around the Democratic community. Won't work because everyone knows that both are Republicans.

    ReplyDelete
  22. its not like Funkhouser was the first

  23. As a Democratic Committeeman from Brookings township, I will do my research on this Crispin guy. If he is indeed a Republican, I will work with other Committee people to let the voters of his ward know about his GOP allegiances and activities. The only reason I am on the Committee is to work at beating Republicans at every level. The last place we need those people is on the Democratic Committee.

  24. Crispan, like his father, is a Republican. Why should he be elected to the Democratic Central Committee?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Crispin Rea was recruited by the current 13th Ward Committeeman, who retired after many years, to replace him. You can say he's running to spy for Republicans, or he's seen the light - you take your pick, but I would suggest you take it up with Jerry Knight in any case. The alternative in the race is a someone rumored to not even live in the Ward.

As to the question of impropriety, this is a no-brainer. I would be quite sure that this has already been vetted by the City Attorney because it had to be when Cindy Circo came on the Council as she continues to represent her ward on the JCDC. If it's wrong for Crispin, isn't wrong for her? I'd say no on both counts as the City of Kansas City is 'non-partisan'. An earlier poster mentioned the DePasco/Callahan move which is correct. However, that was a partisan selection for a Democratically controlled seat. The county committee has no power in the event of a Mayor or Councilperson leaving the council, therefore no conflict of interest exists whether Crispin (or the Co-Mayors, or political MILFs) are committeepeople, Republican or Democrat.

Dems and Republicans can serve in their respective party positions, which in the end is all this committee seat is, natch.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anon 10:42 I know Jerry and the only thing that was true was your last sentence. Dems and Republicans can serve in their respective party positions, which would mean that Crispin Rea should run for the respective party unchallenged Republican Committee seat since he is Republican.

    You're a fucking idiot.

Cindy Circo is an elected official NOT an employee. Rea is a contract employee and there are regulations at City Hall that employees can not hold elected office.

    Case closed.

  28. "You're a fucking idiot."

Agreed that anonymous 10:42PM is a fucking idiot. But then again, so is Cindy Circo.

  29. Are we sure that "elected office" includes party positions? I would think that was not the original intent of the law.
