Damage repair and PARKING PROBLEMS could boot Rockfest from Kansas City

Earlier this summer, I wrote about the insane parking situation at Rockfest.

There were a few doubters but the fact remains that parking for any sizable event is a HUGE problem any place close to downtown . . . Other than the Eastside, of course.

Today Hearne Christopher Jr. reports that the lack of parking in Kansas City could cost this town one of its biggest festivals.
The annual Rock 98.9 FM Rockfest wilding and the Show Me Pride festival may have to look elsewhere for a home. “We are total believers that this is a place for the community,” Liberty Memorial Association spokeswoman Denise Rendina says. “But we also have to balance that with having a national museum and staying open and making sure there’s parking.
Anyone familiar with the area knows there hasn't even been enough parking for Rockfest for years and the damage done to the facility in the aftermath is considerable. Still, losing a major event isn't the best public relations move for the city and there has to be at least 3 or 4 people in the crowd of mullet-heads and partially deaf folks who might enjoy this town's other amenities that are a bit more classy than God-smack.

Also, I'm in favor of keeping every activity that involves topless, working class white women in Kansas City Proper.

  1. All in favor of paving over Tony's westside neighborhood so he can have his dream ggigantic surface parking lot, say "aye".

  2. What's amazing is that there are some 10,000 parking spaces less within 4 blocks of Rockfest over at Crown Center that go virtually unusused on weekends. An easy solution would be for the city to "rent" a couple of these parking garages for the event and we'd be in good shape. Like everything downtown, there are more than enough parking spaces, just being sure people have access is the harder part.

  3. Or people could get off their lazy, fat asses and simply walk across the street from the Crown Center garage.

  4. Well perhaps the trailer-trash can just stay home and watch their dvd collection of Beavis and Butt-head while slamming Coors light and snorting meth off the babies ass...

  5. Jesus that's a little harsh. What will happen is that KC will lose the event in favor of a museum that doesn't produce half as much revenue.

    Good choice people.

  8. I didn't have a problem at all finding parking for Rockfest. Let alone did I see anything ridiculous going on.

  9. Rockfest is alot of fun for people that aren't white trash. Don't be so judgemental. That wont get you anywhere in life. It does also bring in alot of revenue for the city too. I had no problem parking because less than a block away i found a parking garage that nobody apparently knew was there. Of course you could tell that parking wasnt planned for correctly by the tow trucks running the 12 hours of the event.
