The TKC Saturday Night Podcast: Downtown Doesn't have a Parking Problem at all!!!

There's a bunch of great stuff happening in KC this weekend, unfortunately it's MORE THAN CLEAR that there just isn't adequate parking in Downtown Kansas City to accommodate more than one major event at a time . . .

Rockfest parking has not only spilled out onto the street but also points out a horrible problem that few people even like to acknowledge. Further into the urban core, things are even worse and while the Sprint Center is a few miles away from this fiasco . . .

You'll be lucky if you can find parking near that place when it's time for a big event . . . Luckily (or not), it'll be a while before they find an anchor tenant so there's still plenty of time to ignore the situation.

  1. If they parked in the grass, it's because they were directed to park in the grass. There's no parking problem.

  2. The better photos were after, like a sea of red lights and nobody going anywhere. Did you go T?

  3. So, you're telling me that the police directed people to park in the middle of the street and in front of the on ramp to get on I-35?

Also, how fucking lame is this post. You can't even talk about Rockfest if you don't show photos of tits. You're losing your edge Tony.

  4. Parking garages were empty yesterday all over. Idiots that would attend events like Rockfest just aren't smart enough to know how to use them or are too lazy to walk 2 blocks to the event.

I doubt the crown center garages were even full. Can't compensate for idiots like this that are probably more used to parking at a NASCAR event....so that parking was normal for them.

  5. Tony didn't even go to rockfest. He's complaining about cars in the street.

There were allegedly 40,000 tickets sold, plus the concert was oversold on top of that.

The capacity of the sprint center is half that and it has nearby parking.

For someone who never goes out you care a lot about parking.

Is your mom VP of Standard Parking or something?

  6. Do you use parking as an excuse for not going out and doing things?

For a blog that is really only popular because it has Kansas City in the name you need to get out more and live up to the name on this blog instead of just meta-commenting on whatever the pitch's or star's coverage is.

  7. Rockfest attendees weren't allowed to park in Crown Center because the organizers did not want to pay to rent spaces there (it's normally free on weekends) and the parking is for people visiting Crown Center. My friends in Union Hill had horror stories of screaming, drunken people walking up and down their streets all night and leaving mass amounts of garbage. I drove down Main street on Sunday morning and it looked like a disaster! I live near the Sprint Center and I can't imagine getting a space anywhere near my apartment (the cost of which is built into my rent) if they sell out an event.
