TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! UNION GROUP 'MAKING CHANGE AT WALMART' MEETS WITH RAYTOWN COUNCIL TONIGHT!!!

Making Change At Walmart Director Randy Parraz is on the ground today in Raytown and ready to talk with the City Council at tonight's meeting.

Organizers tell us . . .

"Right now we are trying to get to the bottom of why the city is refusing to hold Walmart accountable for its excessive taxpayer drain."

Background on the group . . .

Making Change at Walmart (MCAW) is a campaign run by the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) to change Walmart into a more responsible employer and to improve the lives of Walmart workers. Walmart is owned by one of the richest families in the country but its workers still struggle with poverty wages, erratic schedules, understaffed and under-stocked stores, and mistreatment from management. We believe Walmart can afford to do better and that change at Walmart would mean change for retail employees everywhere.

Remember we reported about this one previously and here'st the sitch . . .

"A lot of Walmart and Raytown's history stems from a bad TIF deal in 2008 that continues to cost Raytown about $1.5 million in sales taxes every year and has created a 10 years of financial crises and in-fighting between aldermen, mayors, the police chief/department, fire department district, and of course, Walmart."

The store is described as a "public nuisance" by authorities and the inner-suburban controversy is now reaching the boiling point.
