TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! UNION ORGANIZERS RAGE AGAINST RAYTOWN WALMART!!!

The debate of fair wages and public subsidy continues in the KCMO inner-suburbs . . .

Remember that even law enforcement has said that the Raytown Walmart is a public nuisance.

Accordingly . . .

NATIONAL UNION LEADERS DESCEND UPON THE RAYTOWN WALMART HOPING TO MAKE CHANGE OR AT LEAST IMPROVE WORSENING RAYTOWN LIVING CONDITIONS GIVEN THE BOX STORE CRISIS!!!

Here's the word . . .

We've been in Raytown, MO for the past several weeks, trying to figure out why the city still refuses to do anything to recoup some of these dollars from Walmart when places like Beech Grove, IN and Fruitport, MI seemed to have found solutions to hold Walmart financially accountable for its taxpayer burden.

It turns out, as I'm sure you probably already knew, a lot of Walmart and Raytown's history stems from a bad TIF deal in 2008 that continues to cost Raytown about $1.5 million in sales taxes every year and has created a 10 years of financial crises and in-fighting between aldermen, mayors, the police chief/department, fire department district, and of course, Walmart.

Two FOIA requests, a letter to the state attorney general, and one missing mystery PowerPoint later, we are still wondering what exactly is going on with Walmart and Raytown . . .

Developing . . .

Comments

  1. bad corporate citizen.

Walmart needs to pay up and there should be more transparency here.

with the recent cuts to the raytown police budget, the city can't afford to play security for a private company.

  2. The loss of tax money is speculative. There would be no tax loss if Wal-Mart would not have built in Raytown absent the tax exemption.

Anyway, the Star did much the same thing, so it must be OK.

  5. Raytown is complaining about a little Walmart TIF? Go take a look at KC's bad TIF deals. They had to raise taxes to cover their loses.

  6. TIFs should have to be explained to the public and voted on by the citizens.

  7. Evict them and put a Amazon Distribution center .Or a VALLEY OAJS,PACKING HOUSE. WHERE'S THE BEEF. NO MATTER WHAT YOU PUT THERE IT WILL BE LOW WAGES.

  10. Lots of folks without a pot to piss in apparently think they are experts on What Walmart should be doing with it's money! Maybe some of you shit house economists should buy the store. After you are up to your ass in red ink and responsible for something besides picking nits out of your asses you might show us all how it is supposed to be done

  11. Wouldn't matter if it was a Target, Store all the thugs that live in the area ruin it for everybody, WalMart should just shut the store down and then will see what happens

  12. My only problem with it is that they have the slowest checkout lines in the entire metro. Whatever those cashiers are getting paid, it’s too much.
