Mayor Sly James prepares to announce the start of work on creating his legacy with the first in a grand slate of big ticket projects that will define his second term.
Remember that we offered a vague warning about the upcoming construction frenzy and series of projects already underway behind the scenes. Well, now things are just about to get real.
THE MOST KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS WARN US THAT MAYOR SLY IS GOING TO ANNOUNCE THE NEW PLAN FOR A DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY CONVENTION HOTEL AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK IN FRONT OF A PRIVATE GROUP OF DOWNTOWN CHEERLEADERS!!!
Here's the word that gets rather specific . . .
"Monday, May 11, Mayor to announce Downtown Hotel at private Downtown Council event at Bartle Hall Ballroom at 11:00 a.m."
Now, we promised to hold off on this story to another BRILLIANT AND AWESOME TIPSTER BUT NOW THAT IT'S OUT OF THE BAG BY WAY OF DOWNTOWN CHEERLEADER GOSSIP we've got some of the preliminary deets should be out there for the benefit of the public and voters.
To wit . . .
This may change but here's what we've heard so far . . .
- Kansas City Top Ranking Lawyer Mike Burke is first in line to do the TIF work on this project. This could be his crowning achievement and make him the top lawyer of his generation in Kansas City - However, he's pretty much earned the spot in may people's eyes anyhoo . . .
- Council was briefed on this project on Thursday. It took less than 24 hours for word of this project to leak after the fact.
- Actually, our AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS are blaming the Downtown Council . . .
- Strangely, Kanas City Insiders say the hotel isn't going to be inside the loop, instead . . . Most believe it'll be close to the Hereford House lot and definitely along the toy train streetcar line.
Worst of all . . .
THIS HALF BILLION DOLLAR PROJECT WILL COST MORE THAN $35 MILLION WORTH OF SUBSIDY DIRECTLY FROM KANSAS CITY COFFERS!!!
Good luck to them trying to find it in the General fund . . . With streetcars, grocery stores and so many other projects paid for by City Hall . . . It'll be a cash crunch to push this project through . . .
Speaking of . . . Don't count on Mayor Sly waiting for reelection on this one, INSTEAD, we hear the vote on this is going to come BEFORE the new council takes office so that outgoing local legislators will feel as if they're getting a piece of the Mayor James legacy.
And now we leave it to local newsies to neglect that OUR BLOG COMMUNITY PROVIDED THIS PUBLIC INFORMATION ON RECORD AND FIRST!!! But mostly we just wanted to WARN that the next four year will be mostly building and borrowing if/when Mayor James is crowned defacto "King Of Kansas City" in a tragic election that the public has mostly ignored.

Interesting how many TIF projects are getting approved with Ms. Circo at the helm. We are in big trouble Kansas City, big trouble. Look for higher taxes than any city in the nation.

Yeah I won't set foot in the place if they hire a single nigger. Niggers are mean, violent, ugly, dumb and get pissed off at the drop of a hat. That's why I don't hire or do business with niggers. I have been burned enough times. Before my awakening, I needed to hire a nurse. A woman (I thought it was a woman) applied and seemed perfect for the position. When I asked her to fill out a contract (I would sign it too mind you), she agreed. I emailed her the contract and then I did not hear from her anymore. I emailed her back asking her if she received it. She said that she did not "fill" (yeah, that's what the bitch typed) that she should have to sign a contract because she does that type of work everyday and "her word is bond". I asked her why did she waste my time then and say that she would fill it out? She said she was okay about the contract at first but then thought about it and did not "fill" that she should have to do that. Once again, rules don't apply to the nigger. I was angry that she wasted my time and effort. I also felt it was cowardly to not respond to my first email about the contract. She had me thinking that she had not received the email. I did some digging and sure enough found out that it was a stinking assed sheboon bitch who was toying with me like that. Incidents like that led me to my awakening. Don't do business with niggers.

Yes the lawyers will. Bankruptcy laws exist so people can avoid being so burdened by past debts that they have no future.
ReplyDeleteLet's think about the city's tax increment financing scam. That's the program intended to eliminate blight in the poorest neighborhoods. Instead, the city jacks up your property taxes and funnels the money into a slush fund available for virtually anything the mayor wants, generally in neighborhoods that are neither poor nor blighted.

In exchange for this hotel KC will get broken streets, fewer police and firefighters and a mountain of debt for our grandchildren. Thanks a lot Sly!

The very reason to not elect Mike Burke now Sly is just like him and bringing him on board the toy train and along for the ride to let the rich get richer and poor well the poor can just just just die along with the water pipes,streets and bridges. This is bullshit. Mostly without subsidies, other hotel chains are now building more than 600 new rooms Downtown, but they aren't the "right" rooms, the consultants say.
So we go on, refusing to learn. And paying for it.
