TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CLAY CHASTAIN FILES LAWSUIT TO DISQUALIFY KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES REELECTION OVER PROPERTY TAX LATE PAYMENT ISSUE!!!

The Mayoral fight is heating up after the primary and thanks to a story that BROKE FIRST ON TKC and now is picking up steam.

To wit . . .

CLAY CHASTAIN'S COMPLAINTS ARE GETTING SERIOUS AND HE'S FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST MAYOR SLY JAMES OVER A PROPERTY TAX ISSUE!!!

Here's the word . . .

Today at 10:30 A.M. I, Clay Chastain Pro-Se, filed a lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court to disqualify Mayor Sly James as a mayoral candidate for violating the City's Charter.

Mayor Sly James was delinquent on his city taxes at the time the City Clerk attested to the Kansas City Election Board, January 10, 2015, that Mayor Sly James was current on all his city taxes.

Mayor Sly James was not qualified to have his name placed on the primary ballot.

And for those who may be wondering, I am still officially a mayoral candidate since the Kansas City Election Board has not yet certified the primary election.

The response from Mayor Sly James . . .

“At the time that I signed the required affidavit to run for office, I was not aware of any tax delinquency. When I learned later that tax was delinquent, I promptly paid it.

“My late payment was due to a misunderstanding related to acquisition of a new vehicle. Several taxes and fees were paid when we registered the vehicle. When I learned that some taxes were not collected at the time of vehicle registration, I promptly paid the amounts due.”

Remember that our blog community posed tax questions regarding Kansas City Mayor Sly's record earlier this month . . .

UPDATE . . . A couple hours after TKC . . . Dead Tree Media is picking up this story . . . Mayor Sly James offers weak excuse for his late tax payment

Ironically enough, it seems that bookkeeping could provide a serious stumbling block for Mayor Sly as he looks toward a development agenda in a second term that is now in question.

Developing . . .

  1. I've got a better title for you TKC.

    Say GOODBYE SLY!

  2. Clay is going mental again.

Clay, get back on your meds and stay in Virginia.

Funny he has nerve to do this when he was called out for being 2 or 3 years delinquent on this earnings tax.

  3. The Mayor should contact Al Sharpton's arsonist and find out how the real pros avoid taxes.

  4. 2:08, you are right. Clay is nuts. However, that's irrelevant. Sly is a tax scofflaw and isn't legally qualified to be on the ballot. Too bad Clay filed pro se. The election board is going to fight on Sly's behalf o this one.

  5. Take Clay out of the equation. He signed on to this late. Here's the real question: Shouldn't the Mayor have to obey the campaign rules like all of the other candidates?

If your answer is no, then tell us what makes the Mayor so special that he is above the law!

He comes right out and says he was not a qualified candidate in the quote. That's an admission of guilt right there. How do you justify this act?

I really want to know, I'm not just trying to start a fight. What is the mayor's excuse? And why should he remain on the ballot?

  6. If someone in City Hall can get fired for not having a MBA like was listed on their resume, why should the Mayor be allowed to run. He broke the rules, too.

    ReplyDelete
  7. He has to follow the same rules as everyone else or its a major lawsuit brought against the election board. CITY CLERK SHOULD BE FIRED!

  8. Ignorance of the law is no excuse

  9. See those sunflowers in the painting behind Clay? I think he secretly works for Brownback.

  10. Here's something for you to consider, Clay.

Even if you prevail in your latest fight against the windmills of your mind, you're not going to beat General Lee for mayor.

Hell, in a one-man race with just you on the ballot, KC still won't elect you.

  11. My bullshit meter is pegged!

Not even Toni Boneless doesn't know when taxes aren't paid. Give me a freaking break already. After reading the statute the only remaining question is whether the taxes were paid. It does not matter whether Sly "remembered" at the time. His excuse may prevent him from being criminally charged, but if those taxes were not paid and he signed that statement He is toast. No judge in his right mind is going to get on the wrong side of this one.

What a gut buster this could turn out to be.

  12. The Mayor should step down, he is not an ethical person. He is bending the rules and making them up as he goes along. The media doesn't care because he is their darling and he dances and sings for the camera.

  13. There are similar ideologies

    ReplyDelete
  14. As Hillary! says (or ought to say), "Rules are for commoners." Sly will stay on the ballot.

  15. The Mayor is above the law!

  16. You peasants have misunderstand how the system works

  17. Perhaps you don't remember what its like to sleep on snot in the Jackson county jail

  18. sly says he rents his house. i want to know who owns it!

  19. If this accusation is true.....S'Lie will be disqualified and his name removed from the ballot.

There will be a paper trail and the City Charter states very clearly that if you are in arrears on your property tax you are disqualified from being placed on any city ballot.

Ignorance of the law, by a practicing attorney is certainly no excuse.

Say good-bye S'Lie. Enjoy your cocktails at Jimmy Chiggers....your days as Mayor of Killa City are over.

  20. You think as long as Mr. Chastain did live in Kansas City he would know how the system works. What does Clay Pigeon have to offer the Power Elite of Kansas City? Nothing. The Power Elite will take him out like he is the object of a skeet shoot. Did it ever dawn on Cousin Pigeon that the fix was in since none of the other heavy hitters ran in the primary? The Power Elite have a lot of money riding on Uncle Sly and they control the courts. Does Mr. Pigeon think they will put up with shenanigans for long? Don’t anger Uncle Sly. He holds grudges and you do not want him coming after you when he is Congressman James. Fly away Mr. Pigeon with your carpetbag back to your real nest, I hear Virginia is beautiful this time of year.

  21. Sly broke the City Charter....not elgible for the ballot.

Sly must be removed from ballot.

I agree totally with the Polar Bear. It is the law and Sly is not above it and can't claim stupidity as a defense.

  22. But he is stupid !

  26. What the hell is Slime James ?

  27. Clay is my Hero !

  28. Should we call Al Sharpton and Eric Holder to get a final reading on this? Since the mayor is a back man elected by black folk I'm sure there is something in the charter of the Negro Baseball Museum that forbids any challenge related to falling to pay bills. Someone call Cleaver and ask him. He's still in office after Car Wash Gate.

Quote from Yael "Fail" Abouhalkah: Get used to it: Kansas Citians likely will see a lot more of the mayor’s straight talk over the next four years.

Quote from inafunkaboutyael: hopefully at the end of his eighth and final year Kansas City will be rid of both parasites... the Obese Bowtie by law and "Fail" Abouhalkah by the grace of g-d or the end of the Kansas City Star.

Each one of these municipal cretins has figured out a way to stay around long after they should have stepped off the stage.

  32. You people are really naive.

84% voted for Sly & people think a judge is going to remove him from the ballot over this.

84%, bitches vs. sour grapes from the loser. Yeah, the judge will jump right on this.

  33. Never thought I'd say this - good for Clay. I hope he wins the court case.
