ReplyDeleteThe WS is a positive, exciting event and one of the few good things going for KC. It shouldn't be tainted by the city's latest homicide. All these vigils, moments of silence, etc. are out of control. If you knew the victim and want to pay your respects, that's what the funeral is for. Don't force the rest of the city into it; it just creates more contempt.

ReplyDeleteThere the murder was committed under a lighted canopy and the perp had no real idea who might have been witnesses. In fact, the tips might have come from people who saw the event on video.
The Hooper murder more closely resembles the drive-by that killed Harry Stone, and might have even been the same thugs and MO.
And NONE of the folks who really know what came down are going to say a thing.
Just add this latest tragedy to the 50% of murders in KCMO that are never solved.
Never address the disease; just make believe you're treating the symptoms.

ReplyDeleteMr. Washington is no doubt obsessing over this case because it's giving him flashbacks to his 15-minutes of fame role in the "Precious Doe" case of 2005.
ReplyDeleteRefresher: In 2001, 3-year old Erica Green of Kansas City was killed by her mother's boyfriend as the mother watched him kick the child. They purposely did not seek medical care for the child, as they were both wanted on outstanding warrants.
After the child died, they carried her corpse into nearby woods, undressed her, and decapitated the body. The couple returned to Oklahoma, and the girl's mother married her daughter's killer a year later. A police officer found the remains in April 2001. The case remained unsolved until 2005 when the murderer's grandfather in Oklahoma provided details to Mr. Washington.
While we applaud Mr. Washington's assistance in this case 9 years ago, we would remind readers that the case is really about an innocent 3-year old girl who became the victim of drug-abusing irresponsible criminal adults.
Soon as Zo gets done riding this little girls corpse, maybe he can jump in the OmegaMobile run down to Indiana and tweet some stupid self promoting horse shit about the 7 serial killer victims. Suggest the Pacers and colts donate to his crime fighting efforts. The only thing more ridiculous than Alonzo is Sly actually responding to the douche bag.

And one last thing -- I would argue that it is not the KC Royals that doesn't care about the murder of a young black child, as Mr Washington believes. Rather, it is the Black Community itself that doesn't care, as demonstrated in its non-action in identifying this child's killer. Or the killers of countless other victims of violent crimes within the Black Community. That is the true tragedy.
