Kansas City Case Study: Toy Train Streetcar Supporters Caught Faking Their Numbers

Kansas City voters have been told that the toy train streetcar is going to spark new development and growth and might cure cancer and tired blood. But most of those promises are built on faulty and misleading data.

To wit . . .

CHECK OUT JUST ONE OF MANY TOY TRAIN CLAIMS TORN APART!!! TURNS OUT BUSINESSES AREN'T RUSHING TO MOVE ALONG THE KANSAS CITY STREETCAR LINE!!!

Read and weep because only a few hundred people were allowed to vote on this one . . .

Kansas City Streetcar Economic Development Claims Don’t Add Up . . . Literally

Deets on a specific case:

"Centric’s $2 million economic impact supposedly due to the streetcar is a $1.5 million remodel to a space that likely would have required remodeling regardless who, or why, it was occupied. The company moved two blocks up Main, meaning that they didn’t even move to the streetcar line from somewhere outside the Transportation Development District (TDD). They simply moved to a different point on it. Kansas City officials want you to think this is all due solely to the uncompleted downtown streetcar."

Now, because white people don't like giving credit where it's due and OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY IS NOW THE SEXIEST FORCE FOR JOURNALISM IN KANSAS CITY PROPER!!!

The mostly unread Show-Me blog is taking credit for asking these questions when in fact . . .

TKC asked Council Lady Jan about Toy Train Streetcar Eco-Devo

And Then . . .

TKC Got Answers From Mayor Sly James On Toy Train Streetcar Eco-Devo Promises.

Nevertheless . . . We encourage more people to start asking questions about the toy train streetcar and the flimsy promises that are keeping it on track.

Developing . . .

  2. About the only thing the toy train will be useful for is bringing in and taking home all the low wage slave service workers living in the outlying slums that will be required to keep the Power and Light playground shiny and always new looking for Cordish and the downtown property tax evaders.

  4. "there is no evidence that streetcars alone lead to economic development."

Well no fucking shit, Patsy. Is this the best you can do? The pubic hairs on my left nut could have come up with that analysis. I can't believe someone is stupid enough to pay you for these ramblings, but hey, people buy tickets to Miley Cyrus concerts, so there you go.

If you build a streetcar in the middle of a fucking desert, guess what, you won't get any development either. Same goes for a sidewalk, fire station, school, or playground. Clearly we shouldn't be doing those fucking things as well. Is that your next blog entry Patsy?

According to you, Centric should have fled for Lenexa to avoid the streetcar TDD and get those Brownback gifts for the rich tax breaks.

Patsy, your vision for a KCMO is one of rot and decay.

    Fuck you.

  5. Streetcar is already exceeding expectations regarding eco Devi. I can understand why people are jealous and why Brooksiders are already regretting their opposition. Exciting time to live in KCMO and be part of it's rebirth. Other communities are already scrambling to keep up.

  6. 5:53, 6:31, and 6:33 (Probably all the same councilperson who passed...the Mensa test!): You hipsters and wannabes can't even get your shit together to put out convincing bullshit. Did any of you gather "data" for W's the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" lie, too?

And my, someone's mighty good at responding to facts--with name-calling. You're all soooooo mature.

  7. Toy Train going to serve Jimmy Johns and alcohol by chance ?

  8. One guy has promised to open a Vietnamese restaurant in River Market because of the streetcar. So the streetcar may produce a couple of bus boy jobs.

  9. Tony complaining AGAIN about one of several moving parts on the train deal.

The construction starting illuminates the level of meaning that this blog has. Shit, if Tony gets mention anywhere, he will, first, get wood, then, post a note affirming his meaning.

If you have studied Maslov, it's not all that unique.

  11. None of the arguing from either side makes any difference at this point in the scam. Millions have already been spent, every available budget account has been scoured and cleaned out, commitments have been made, contracts have been signed, the desperate attempts to make believe that expansion is being considered, when in fact more tax money is needed from a much larger area just to pay for the Main Street line, and the supporters have all found comfy contracts and consulting gigs that will pay well into the future regardless of how great a financial disaster this all turns out to be.
Hundreds of millions for a five-year fad committed for decades, and all decided by just 375 voters in a city of 464,000 residents.
Proving that you CAN fool enought people enough of the time.
    Thanks for playing.

  12. Populous, Kansas City’s largest sports architecture firm, is relocating from its custom-built offices in the River Market for a new home in the Board of Trade building at the Country Club Plaza.

Let the exodous begin! Just watch, with the prices going up downtown to support the black hole money pit there more and more will leave.

  13. River Market will be the new Bannister. Niggers everywhere. Crime will escalate. Downtown is done. Toy Train rattling down the street riddled with bullet holes.

  14. And don't forget, Chelsea Clinton is gearing up to come collect your guns 858. Will probably use a drone also.

    Dumbshit.

And I am not about the train. It's just that "stupid" hurts my eyes.

Of course, the next question would be, "why am I reading anything here?"

And that would be a good question.

  15. What? Numbers being Faked in Kansas City Misery? The Fire Dept and its union wouldn't know anything about that shit! Leave us fuckers out of this one!!!
