TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! BISHOP TINDALL JACKSON COUNTY REELECTION CAMPAIGN IN THE WORKS!!!

This morning we want to play devil's advocate for a somewhat controversial man of God.

To wit . . .

JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS PUT US ON NOTICE OF THE UPCOMING BISHOP TINDALL REELECTION CAMPAIGN!!!

This is a bit of a comeback surprise considering health concerns for the elder statesman and longstanding complaints that felons shouldn't be allowed to hold office.

However . . .

JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS REMIND US THAT BISHOP TINDALL'S REELECTION CHANCES ARE NOTHING LESS THAN A SLAM DUNK!!!

Like it or not, these are the facts of life in Jackson County . . .

- Prosecutor Mean Jean Peters Baker is NEVER going to make a peep regarding Missouri questions over felony status in Jackson County - A charter issue that's proved airtight so far.

- Bishop Tindall will not face any significant challenger among his vast constituency.

- The Job belongs to Bishop Tindall/Jackson County Legislator . . . It's his without much of a contest. And, it's worth noting that VOTERS HAVE SENT HIM BACK TO THE COUNTY TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!!

Over the years there have been significant reforms at the County and things have changed a bit at the Courthouse . . . However, the old school dominance of power brokers and political movers and shakers hasn't changed despite Prez Obama-era rhetoric adopted by County Exec Mike Sanders and his back-up singing babes Theresa Garza Ruiz and Crystal Williams.

  1. At the very least, he is honest about his record and he might even get the felony expunged.

  2. Yes, another old-time felon in office?

  3. CK History In A Nutshell - -For the last decade, the city has been caught up in a pork fest — all of it perfectly legal — the likes of which are unequaled in any American city. A small group of developers and attorneys with City Hall connections glommed on to a program for poor neighborhoods and used it to build luxury hotels and fancy shopping centers in the richest parts of town, draining $90 million per year from the city’s budget and racking up $5 billion in debt. Cash poor, the city’s bridges, sidewalks and sewers were literally crumbling, and Kansas Citians were at wits’ end.

(So this guy will do what?)

  4. The only difference between Bishop Tindall and those referenced in 8:29's post is the legal formality of the "felon" label.

  5. So a county politician is running for re-election. And this is Tony's big scoop of the day?

Geez, Tony. Where would you be without all these "insiders" feeding you these wonderful "tips" that nobody else could possibly guess, let alone bother to report.

  6. Don't pretend to understand this one Wildman. The word was that Tindall was out and now he's back in.

    Go back to Kansas, dude.

  9. You know what? If the east side keeps voting for Tindall, then they must be happy with what they are getting. Nobody said democracy was perfect but you mess with it at your own peril.

  10. Its easy to be a felon these days.

  13. @7:51am you CANT expunge a felony conviction even if its a class c felony . but this is who should be in office at least you can see them for what they are instead of that "I never got caught trash" thats in office now .. both at the mayoral level, and especially the CITY COUNCIL level .. how they manage to just ignore the people is beyond me and why blacks keep blacks in office despite them being nothing more than political welfare recipients and being black is shameful and disgusting.. non blacks shouldnt be forced to see this shit and then be forced to smile and clap as if what the so called "elected" people do is honorable in any way .. I hate this town but its like morbid curiosity you cant help but look

    WTF?
Missouri Supreme Court affirms ouster of Cass County commissioner

    March 13 2012
    MATT CAMPBELL
    THE KANSAS CITY STAR
The Missouri Supreme Court on Tuesday affirmed the ouster of Cass County Presiding Commissioner Herschel Young.

In a unanimous decision, the court said the ouster was proper and the statute under which it was done was constitutional.

Young was removed from office by a lower court based on his guilty plea in 1995 to the Class C felony of second-degree assault in Cass County after he hit someone who spat on his wife. He was elected presiding commissioner in 2010.

But a state law that took effect in 2007 bars felons from seeking public office. The Cass County prosecutor's office sought his ouster, and a trial judge last year ordered him removed. Young appealed that ruling, and on Tuesday he lost.

Young could not be reached for comment but has said he thinks the law is unfair.

Assistant Cass County Prosecutor Scott Wright, who argued the case in November before the Supreme Court, would not comment.

Georgia Sanders, spokeswoman for the county, said the court decision speaks for itself.

The drama has affected the political balance in Cass County. Young, a Republican, defeated Democrat Gary Mallory for presiding commissioner. Prosecuting Attorney Teresa Hensley is a Democrat.

Young's removal means two of the three elected commissioners in Cass County will have been replaced this year. South District Commissioner W.J. "Bill" Cook, a Republican, resigned to take a job elsewhere. Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Luke A. Scavuzzo, a Democrat, to replace him. North District Commissioner Brian Baker, also a Republican, has been acting presiding commissioner.

Young's assault plea resulted in probation, but the conviction was never recorded in his criminal history. Two days after he was sworn in, the prosecutor's office filed for his removal.

The Felon Bill was Hammershcmitted in Court by Rizzo. BUT it passed in the Herschel Young case, thus setting a clear path for Jean Peters Baker.

    Hammerschmidt
    Organized crime

A decision by the Missouri Supreme Court known as Hammerschmidt affirms the provision in the Missouri Constitution barring passage of legislation containing more than one subject, but the law is routinely ignored by members of the General Assembly and the governor.

Every session is full of examples. This year’s is no exception.

A transportation bill includes provisions relating to red-light-camera use and penalties assessed, speed cameras, the length of yellow lights on traffic signals, transit fares in St. Louis and a breast cancer awareness license plate.

An election bill requires more stringent voter identification requirements and establishes early voting, two subjects evoking such divergent reactions that they should be considered separately.

A bill prohibits an herbal product similar to marijuana and a form of bath salts some users like to snort. Lawmakers debated whether the two products are equally bad or whether the salts should be allowed, but the bill forced an up-or-down vote on both together.

Any semi-diligent researcher could find dozens more examples. As sessions wind down, flurries of bills are added as amendments to constitutionally unrelated bills seemingly set for passage. Lobbyists are on their toes watching for onerous provisions suddenly emerging where they least expect. Sometimes brand-new ideas emerge at the last minute without anything resembling full discussion.

Manipulators of the legislative process ignore these violations. Sometimes pet bills are passed in violation of Hammerschmidt. None of my favorite lawmakers vows to fight the Hammerschmidt battle even though they know its mischief.

Yet the law makes utter sense and should be respected. Combining unrelated topics in single bills often poses impossible compromises for lawmakers and mystery for constituents. Legislative compromise is necessary and usually beneficial when done within a coherent context, not by unholy mixtures of divergent subject matter.

The only way to get at this is for someone to file lawsuits so courts can expand and refine what it means to violate Hammerschmidt.
