KANSAS CITY REALITY CHECK: OHIO MAKES MORE SENSE FOR GOP 2015 CONVENTION!!!

Take a look at Kansas City coming in a distant second place to another, more important part of flyover country . . .

Huff Post: Ohio's Major Cities Making Big Play For 2016 Political Conventions

More importantly . . .

A KANSAS CITY INSIDER OFFERS A QUICK FACT CHECK FOR OUR LOCAL ELECTED LEADERS!!!

Here's the money quote:

"A little New Year's present for Sly and the CVA. Ohio is more important than KS and MO."

Even worse . . .

TKC EXCLUSIVE: KANSAS CITY'S CONVENTION BID IS BASICALLY KAPUT AMID TRAGIC INFIGHTING BETWIXT LOCAL REPUBLICAN POWER BROKERS AS GOP LADY CATHY NUGENT WAS FORCED OUT!!!

Admittedly, Cathy Nugent has her critics and not a lot of people shed a tear when they heard of her hard times on the KC Committee . . .

However . . . Here's what Mayor Sly has a hard time understanding:

The GOP Convention was a big deal to Ms. Nugent and was pretty much an all-consuming endeavor. Meanwhile, the bigger name Missouri GOP heavyweights now in charge of KC's Republican play don't have a lot invested in KC getting the convention nod. While Mayor Sly seems more comfortable dealing with the rich and powerful . . . He's yet again failing to utilize the skill of more committed grassroots efforts. In the end, this episode is simply another manifestation of Mayor Sly's "win at all costs" approach to politics that has proven casually dismissive of a great many interests in Kansas City proper simply based on social standing.

  1. Don't expect sanity from this administration it is not going to happen.

  2. These taxpayer-financed sideshows are a relic of a past time when presidential candidates were chosen by delegates. All conventions do now is allow local police forces to further militarize. End the damn things!

  3. 9:43 and 9:46 are correct. A Republican convention in KC is just an excuse to militarize downtown KC at huge taxpayer expense.

It does not make sense for the GOP to come to a town that newspapers, city council, mayor, city council, and population are hostile to the GOP.

San Diego or Los Vegas would welcome the GOP.

  4. I cannot believe that ANYBODY thought this would be a reality, my only surprise is that they are admitting that it wont happen, KC will lie up to the day the convention begins somewhere else and act as if they are surprised that at the last second they "screwed" us by changing their minds.
The one thing I learned about KC politics is like the City Council:
    1. they only help and work hard for the areas of their own districts that have a higher voter turnout, so if that part of their district is well off, then the poorer part of the district can pretty much count on being poorer because the rep, congressman or city councilor knows the the part of their district that has the higher turnout is who will vote them in over and over and over again... I hope that answers the question on election day "who voted for this asshole! not me! how does he keep winning??"
    2. Kansas City big business JE Dunn, Burns & McDonnell, Rosie over at Mark 1 Electric use the city's workers like their own personal workforce, they sit on the same boards together, they share back and forth together and when people look at the MILLIONS rosie has earned and can still claim "small business" it tells on itself. Phillip Yelder like the Revrund will forever say "I dont know what you think you saw but...." as he takes bribes and kickbacks for handing the very same people contracts over and over again, you'll find most of them go to emanual cleavers church where they give him a 10% tithe for the contracts they receive from him through yelder
    3. finally ... open your mouth about the hispanics working for KCP&L while sitting on the board of the Hispanic chamber and dumping buckets of money into the chamber to continue building the hispanic strength in the city and making sure they get a huge share of KCP&L contracts and blacks from Burns & McDonnell sitting on the black chambers doing the same thing passing back and forth "favors" and money to keep them going while NO-ONE is the wiser and ask yelder for that info and you will never work in this town again ..
Oh well, the people who are making money off the backs of the people here will be long gone when you realize this city is bankrupt and nothings going to bring it back for years to come ... they'll rue the day they let sly steal this election and the city council getting re-elected over and over again and still be able to do nothing for or about it

  5. Oh wait. Your political insiders are notoriously stupid.

Are these the same "insiders" that said that said Mike Burke's election as mayor was in the bag?

The money quote, of course, being "I'm simply reporting what most KANSAS CITY POLITICAL WATCHERS regard as fact."

And then there was the recall election for Councilman Brooks your insiders clued us in to.

And then there was the big layoff at City Hall that never happened.

Your track record with political insiders is so bad I have to wonder if they're not just feeding you lines to make you look stupid...not that you need their help any.

  6. It will go somewhere with rail transit just like everything else. Even republicans are more progressive than the hillbillies in this town who are scared of everything outside their cars. Probably go to Cleveland, even a dying city with less density than KC understands how people get around after the 80s ended

  7. It will go to whichever city or town offers the biggest complimentary liquor cache and most abundant numbers of call girls.

Yes, there's just no one more supportive of federally-subsidized urban rail transit than the Republicans in Congress!

  12. He has a church here in Kansas City as well, thats where all the contracts go when he goes out on the floor of congress asking for money for KC infrastructure and his church members who the majority are contractors that go to his church .. he knows what his 10% tithe (kickback) should be because he was the one who got it and brought it back to KC. did you know that Rosie at Mark 1 donated the building to house mid america"minority" for free? that she and JE Dunn sit on that board together, that much of the support and money that goes to the Hispanic Chamber is because Valerie Coyazo from KCP&L (hispanic) sits on that board? and Michelle Word (black) at Burns & McDonnell sit on that board so a huge portion of the contracts and financial support comes from KCP&L and Burns & McDonnel similar to the black chamber in KCK where they sit on that board as well, thats why white people have to fight tooth and nail for contracts that chances are they wont get.

  13. How soon is Cathy Nugent moving to Cleveland? They need an experienced Ho-fessional to close the deal.

  14. one of these days people will wake up to the fact that it is just as much a problem for people to use their race or religion to get something as it is wrong for them to be excluded because of race or religion - one day we will base these decisions truly on merit oops I know I'm living in a dream world

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cleaver needs to go but it won't happen because the blacks are too afraid they won't get anyone else in and the white Democrats turn a blind eye to what he does or does not fight for because they are worried someone worse will get in that seat. Democrats need to wise up to who is really supporting democratic principles and who are racist and hyper religious and therefore not supporting things like equal rights for all not just based on race ie: women and LGBT.

  16. I can't believe how much the GOP is asking potential victim cities to pay for their convention. And I can't believe our city officials think it would be wise to pay so much to have the convention here. But, as someone once said, you can never go wrong underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Actually it was P.T. Barnum who said that, and he must have had Sly and the KCMO gang in mind. For these folks, there's no such thing as too much tax money spent as long as it gives them a chance to rub shoulders with the swells, cut ribbons and launch balloons, and keep up all the superficial rah rah about downtown.
