Rest assured that Missouri House Rep. Jason Kander is still Kansas City's favorite elected official. Sadly, this fact doesn't offset a very real polling deficit that TKC reported FIRST and was confirmed even by Democratic party internal numbers weeks later.

So, what now?

The consensus among Kansas City's political elite is that Rep. Kander won't be able to make of the difference in his race against a GOP opponent backed by Rex Sinquefield and a couple of other millionaires.

Insiders say:

"Jason Kander is unlikely to overcome the polling deficit, so his last minute media messages might not get their original planned buy. Kander is probably considering banking the remainder of his cash for a run next cycle."

"Jason Kander is more dangerous next time around, sitting on that war chest full of money."

To wit . . .

A GREAT MANY KANSAS CITY POLITICOS FEAR JASON KANDER'S UPCOMING MOVE THE NEXT ELECTION CYCLE!!!

Why?

Because, like it or not, Rep. Kander demonstrated that his fundraising skill stands leaps and bounds of just about any other elected official in Kansas City.

While Mr. Kander's reach might have exceeded his grasp in the Missouri Secretary Of State run . . . What he showed everyone is that Team Kander is ambitious, capable and prepared work hard to stand up for their campaign platform.



It's only the current political backlash against Prez Obama, billionaire meddling, and Red State prejudice that thwarted what should have been an easy run.

Gov. Jay never came to Jason Kander's rescue despite a political alliance between the two that always seemed kind of one-way according to bystanders.

Mayor Sly straight up left Jason Kander hanging and didn't offer a single public show of support for Mr. Kander's Secretary Of State candidacy after the House Rep. basically put The Mayor in office.

Behind the scenes . . . More than a few Jackson County insiders are intrigued by what this City's crime rate would have looked like if Jason Kander been appointed to the County Prosecutor job.

And so . . .

KANSAS CITY'S POLITICAL ELITE FEAR JASON KANDER'S REVENGE GIVEN THAT HE DOESN'T OWE THIS TOWN'S ESTABLISHMENT ANYTHING WHEN THE NEXT ELECTION CYCLE COMES AROUND!!!

That's a very dangerous proposition and could spell trouble for everyone from Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders or even a City Councilperson or two.

Now, to be fair, Team Kander still says that this race is close and they're putting all their effort into this . . . A quick look at media proves otherwise.

Meanwhile, this Halloween more than anything a fear of Jason Kander's political ambitions is leaving a cold chill up the spine of so many Kansas City elected officials hoping to hold on to power.

    All inside baseball political crap as usual.
    It's hard to tell what Kander's political platform was except spending 60 days in Afghanistan as an Army lawyer, and I'm not sure what that has to do with being SOS.
    He can now just throw his hat in the ring with the rest of the egos and pesonality wannabes tugging and pulling to be the next big thing.
    And in the midst of all this, can't ANY OF THESE PEOPLE spend at least a little time actually addressing some of the challenges faced by KCMO and the county?

    I doudt anyone at all is intrigued by what KC's crime rate would have been if Kander had been appointed County Prosecutor. Experience matters. Sanders made the right call.

    Now, his wife is admittedly my favorite political wife due to her good looks and perky demeanor, but that's an unscientific opinion.

    I thought Kander ran for Secretary of State as revenge for his loss in seeking the appointment to County Prosecutor? (The four-hundred page "handouts" made you look like a kid Jason.)But now he plans to seek revenge after his upcoming loss in the revenge action? Jason, I think I see a trend.

    The reason that Nixon (and essentially everyone else) didn't come to Kander's aid is that Kander only cares about himself. The guy doesn't develop relationships unless they benefit his ladder-climbing political career.
