WAIT!!! DID JONATHAN DINE WIN THE MISSOURI SENATE DEBATE?!?!

TKC has a bit of access to EXCLUSIVE polling data and more than my share of market research kung-fu . . .

To wit . . .

IT'S CLEAR THAT THE HIGHLIGHT OF A RECENT MISSOURI SENATE DEBATE WAS A THOUGHTFUL STATEMENT FROM JONATHAN DINE!!!

Mr. Dine said . . .

“I promise to keep the Republicans out of your bedroom and the Democrats out of your wallet.”

And really . . . From all the round-ups that have now been filed . . . The sentiment from Mr. Dine struck a chord with just about everybody in the room.

What's even more impressive is that Mr. Dine has seemingly shaken off his two felony convictions to come out of yesterday's debate looking like a winner and the most reasonable of all three candidates.

In a perfect world the contest for Missouri Senate would be about ideas for moving the State forward but campaign cash and media influence prevent that reality from unfolding.

To learn a bit more about Mr. Dine check out a recent TKC EXCLUSIVE interview. . . IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT MR. DINE USED HIS MONEY LINE FIRST ON THIS BLOG!!! . . . More importantly, given Jonathan dine's excellent debate performance it might be time to realize that there are alternatives to the current two-party gridlock in the nation's capital.

  1. I like this guy.

He is reasonable and hits the mark with that slogan.

Keep Reps out of the bedroom and Dems outta ur wallet.

    Very nice!

  2. Dine shook the field up for people who listened to or saw the debate. He made both the old woman and old man look out of touch -- both of them trying to be something they are not.

Find out what brand of marijuana he smokes and send a bag to all my candidates.

  4. Dine is willing to stand firm9/22/12, 7:28 AM

Dine brings much more appeal to the young democrat vote than Claire, who just shows up after six years and expects allegiance. I get so sick and tired of her talking about how things are so important in one breath and then promising to compromise the hell out of everything in the next breath. People see through that kind of double talk. We cannot count on her to stand up for what is important when the going gets tough, if she is always looking for ways to cave in order to score political points with people who will never vote for her anyway. It is time for the old lady to get out of the way.

  5. Girlpower destroyed Claires KC Caucus9/22/12, 7:42 AM

Claire is clearly in trouble, and the stupidity of a small number of women in KC have made it much worse for her.

The Torch Dinner is on its way to losing money again. A couple of hundred people might show up, most of them to receive awards or introduce someone.

I wonder if the GirlPower Tag Team of Theresa Garza and Crystal Williams will make drunk ass jokes about men again this year as they drive a once great political organization into the stone wall of bigotry?

By destroying the caucus they have denied Claire McCaskill a GOTV tool which might cost her the election.

  6. Tony, Dine has even less chance of getting elected to the U.S. Senate than Tracy Ward had of getting elected to the City Council.

And for the same reason: Once you scratch beneath the surface of their populist Libertarian slogans, you not only find that they have nothing left to say, but they are both batshit crazy.

  7. 8:15 yeah, the idea of people being free is just "batshit crazy" ... everyone needs a complicated set of arbitrary rules to live by (hmmm, who would be the best to make up those rules? oh I know! YOU!) and everyone should follow all those arbitrary rules under threat of violence or else, well, or else you and your friends wouldn't be able to leech off the rest of us anymore.

There is a very simple and elegant solution to all the stupidity in government today, and it lies at the heart of the libertarian philosophy: don't initiate force against others. That's it.

  8. Dine just siphons votes off of cunty Claire. Excellent.

  9. I could never vote for Akin but I do not feel good about voting for Cave-in-Claire either. Dine is probably the best choice, to send a message.

  10. I've met Dine and I really like him.

He is pro-choice; that didn't come up in the debate and it's sort of a problem for me, but he represents my views on marriage equality and marijuana legalization. He would also vote for the full repeal of Obamacare. He was easily the best dressed and the most well-spoken.

The problem is, he can't win in a three way race, and a full repeal of Obamacare is the ONLY reason I'm voting in this election.

I hope I have another opportunity to vote for Jonathan Dine in the future; maybe he'll run as a Republican against Emanuel Cleaver. Anyway, I've made it clean that I am voting for Todd Akin.

  11. I feel bad for people who think third parties can't win. It's a self perpetuating reality, started by the people in power to keep opposition at bay and siphon the votes of defeatists in with those of the fatally ignorant party and single issue voters. If everyone who thought, "He's a great candidate...but he can't win." actually voted for the person they really liked we could easily have a legitimate three, maybe four way race. I't not about winning, it's about choosing the best candidate and hoping others agree.

  12. Hey, 8:41, if you hate rules so much, try Somalia. Absolutely no rules there. Should be Libertarian Heaven.

  13. I support The Affordable Care Act.

People who vote one issue are vulnerable to bait & switch. A classic example is poor & lower middle class people voting Republican because of so called family values. When their policies actually hurt families.

  14. I believe a third party can win... Democrats win in a three way between Republicans and Libertarians; Republicans win in a three way race between Democrats and Greens.

Jonathan Dine WOULD win this race if Todd Akin dropped out; Akin isn't going anywhere.

  15. I'm not sure Jonathan Dine would win if both Akin and McCaskill dropped out.

  17. Hey 1:03, first of all, notice that there is a very important rule in my post: don't initiate force. Second of all, watch the short video linked in my post and you might understand a bit more about liberty.

  18. Someone earlier in the comments said Dine brings "much more appeal to young democrats than Claire". Hilarious considering he is libertarian and in opposition to nearly everything Dems stand for. i.e. more government, regulation, taxes, and fewer individual liberties. What a great example of how blind some party loyalist can really be about what they stand for.
