The Kansas City metro has been hyper-focused on Kansas but, as we remind readers, some of the more interesting political plays are in the future and on the Missouri side.

Kehoe Dismisses Primary Threats as Bailey Targets Jefferson City Establishment
"Hey TKC, just wanted to let you know that speculation is growing regarding a potential 2028 Republican primary challenge by former Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey against incumbent Governor Mike Kehoe.
"Rumors intensified after Bailey stepped down from his role as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI to return to Missouri, where he has since delivered campaign-style speeches criticizing the Jefferson City political establishment and denouncing the Kehoe administration's recent energy bill as "disastrous".
"To be fair, your beloved "prog bloggers" and the news stations out in the sticks have reported that Bailey explicitly denies being an active candidate BUT he has notably stopped short of ruling out a future campaign. For his part, Governor Kehoe just recently confirmed that he intends to seek a second term in 2028 and he's unwisely dismissing concerns over a primary challenge, because he says that political competition simply "comes with the territory"
"We'll see how he feels after the next session when what's left of the freedom caucus makes his political life absolutely miserable."
