Skeptics Second Guess Platte County GOP Vandalism Claim

Let's start with the message from our conservative friends . . .

Here's the word from Missouri GOP leaders:

"Last night, parts of the Platte County, Missouri, Republican Central Committee Headquarters were vandalized and destroyed by an individual or group. It is deeply disappointing that Missouri politics has reached a point where people express their disagreement through destruction rather than debate.

"Let this serve as a reminder of the choice before every voter. Will you support the party that stands for the rule of law, order, and liberty—or the party associated with actions like those shown in these photos?

"This election is essential for the future of our state and nation."

"Make sure you vote by November 3rd."

That's a reasonable response but their online graphic blames Democratic Party policy without any evidence and no charges from police.

Even more interestingly . . .

A SLEW OF SOCIAL MEDIA "HIDDEN COMMENTS" DOUBT MIDTERM CLAIMS OF POLITICAL VANDALISM!!!

Here's a quick sampling of the responses that conservatives are pushing back . . .

Doubt over the damage . . .

"Chalk paint, you did this yourself for attention."

A response regarding political culpability . . .

"How do you know it's from Democrats? This could have been done by anyone who is sick of trump and ice. I know several who aren't Democrats that can't stand him or ice. This could be any number of people who don't support a PDF File. The list is long."

Simple cynicism . . .

"Word has it that you did it yourself..."

The "whataboutism" defense . . .

"So one person or at most a handful of people spray painted your windows and it’s an indictment of all democrats? I really, really don’t think you guys want to play that game. J6 happened, though you and your followers will mostly deny it did.All you have is nonsense fear mongering and faux outrage."

Skeptical pattern recognition . . .

"No other instances of political vandalism of any other kind in this neighborhood. Very obvious false flag. A very dumb move from suburban conservative halfwits."

For the record . . .

Per ushe . . . We'll wait for police investigation and any charges before making any judgements. BUT, realistically, petty vandalism usually doesn't get any final verdict even in the smallest local enclaves.

For now, here's another quote and more reporting . . .

A week out from Election Day, leaders of a KC-area Republican headquarters are cleaning up after vandals spray-painted the building with political messages.

The Platte County, Missouri, Republican Central Committee posted photos on social media, showing several windows covered in spray paint.
