Season Of Vacant Building Fires Coming Soon To Kansas City

Quick reminder of how weather, not just climate, impacts our local life . . .

KANSAS CITY SHOULD PREP FOR MORE VACANT BUILDING FIRES AS RESOURCES FOR HOMELESS DWINDLE!!!

The reality is that local "unhoused" have always taken shelter in vacant houses and buildings and often burn them down whilst trying to stay warm.

The new element in his equation is that across the metro there are fewer beds and resources for homeless, so we can expect the traditional problem to worsen.

Another punchline . . . This comes as KCMO has suffer constant fires at construction and demolition sites amid efforts to build affordable housing.

For instance . . . Oak Park Village has been burned by serial arsonists more than two dozen times this year.

And so . . . We'll mark this post as a preview for a problem that neither Mayor nor council have addressed despite months of outcry and the impending reality that it all might soon get even worse . . .

"Crews responded around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, to the area of 28th and Wabash Ave., according to the Kansas City Fire Department. KCFD added that no injuries were reported. Dangerous Buildings and City Planning were called. The cause is under investigation."
