Newly Signed Suspected Creeper Chiefs Kicker Sparks Controversy

Local push back is interesting but as we noted previously . . . Chiefs fans will put up with quite a bit as long as the team is winning.

Still, we respect this counterpoint . . .

“Bringing on somebody who has allegations like this against them sends a message to all of those people that it’s more important to have this person on the team than it is to believe and support survivors,” said Julie Donelon, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA).

Donelon said MOCSA serves the Kansas City area as a rape crisis center and sexual abuse and assault center, supporting individuals of all ages who have been impacted by sexual violence. Donelon said the organization supports survivors in a variety of ways, including accompanying them to hospitals for forensic exams.

This is a story the NFL has seen many times before: teams choosing talent over off-field troubles. Donelon said that message can be triggering for people who have been assaulted.
