Here's more important news . . .

"The Excelsior Springs Fire Department responded to the fire just before 9:20 p.m. in the area of Dunbar Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.

"The fire department said crews at the scene experienced heavy fire conditions coming from a second-story bedroom.

"The residents of the home confirmed that everyone was out safe but said several cats remained inside.

"Crews were able to locate one cat in an unaffected area of the home, according to the fire department. The status of the remaining cats is currently unknown."
