KC's Oddly Correct Coffee Shop Earns National Coverage Against 'Demonic' Review

Sometimes it sucks to be right.

A week ago, here's how we guessed this local OUTRAGE MARKETING story was gonna go . . .

"Push back against PERCEIVED RACISM rather than what was obviously just typical fear of the unfamiliar and that's likely how our progressive friends might interpret this SILLY story."

AND THAT'S EXACTLY HOW FOLLOW-UP REPORTING TURNED OUT!!!

A quote from Today show coverage . . .

"The coffee shop is on Troost Avenue, which has long been a racial and economic dividing line between affluent, primarily white neighborhoods to the west and mostly Black, lower-income neighborhoods to the east.

"Known as the Troost Wall, the street has marked the city’s historical segregation, but in recent years, old and new residents on both sides have worked to break it down."

Two things . . .

NOBODY EVER CALLED IT THE "TROOST WALL" UNTIL MAYBE THE LATE 90S WHEN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS ALREADY STARTING TO CHANGE!!!

Now . . .

Given rampant corporate development and hundreds of successful home renovations, the old "dividing line" perceptions about Troost are mostly a marketing ploy so that youthful hipsters can earn street cred whilst slinging overpriced beverages and other assorted sundries.

Seriously, we always lament that many of our JoCo & rural readers don't realize that they'd be priced out of some of the nicer homes in Beacon Hill & Longfellow.

Secondly . . .

C'MON MAN, ARE YOU REALLY LEVERAGING SATANIC PANIC TO SELL BEAN WATER?!?

The answer to that question is likely why TKC is still struggling to leverage this bloggy effort rather than garnering MSM high praise.
