Kansas City Starts Downtown I-670 Disaster

Context . . .

U2 did this for like an hour in late 90s and threw most of the city in a panic.

We hope locals are able to adjust better this time around . . . But we doubt it and expect the push back to be fierce given that most drivers don't REALLY understand how badly this will impact local traffic.

Here's a preview . . .

The city of KCMO stated in a news release that I-670 in downtown will close in early December and stay closed through September 2028. Surrounding city streets will endure intermittent closures during that time, too.

The KCMO City Council approved the start of construction last month.

Phase 1 is set to establish 50% of tunnel infrastructure as well as the first block from Wyandotte Street to Baltimore Avenue.
