Kansas City Police Investigate Victim Shot Dead Near South Hyde Park

The latest local killing is reporting in the rough area betwixt Midtown & the East side as the "art gallery neighborhood" suffers more violence late in the year.

Homicide 4200 blk of Locust

This morning just after 10 AM officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Locust on a reported medical nature unknown.  Call notes indicated there was an individual slumped over in a vehicle. 

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim unresponsive in a vehicle on Locust. KCFD EMS arrived simultaneously and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. Preliminary information revealed the victim to have suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. 

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting. Crime scene personnel and investigators are on scene canvassing for witnesses, physical evidence, and surveillance footage.
