Nurses gathered Tuesday morning to call for safety changes at HCA Midwest Hospitals in the Kansas City region.
It comes after a fatal shooting last week. Independence police officers said a man shot and killed Jessica Cyrus inside a hospital room at Centerpoint Medical Center. James F. Lawson, 39, has been charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
