Before we examine a local biz elite party . . . Let's consider big picture context . . .
"Recent legal setbacks for diversity efforts in the United States are heavily driven by federal actions, notably an executive order labeling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies as illegal civil rights violations and dismantling them within government agencies. At the same time, heightened enforcement by bodies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has subjected private corporations and institutions to litigation over "illegal diversity goals," forcing major companies to preemptively roll back their programs.
"These actions draw heavy legal precedent from the Supreme Court's Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard ruling, which established that diversity is no longer a compelling interest justifying race-conscious decisions, thereby providing a powerful legal framework for challengers to target similar diversity and inclusion programs in both the public and private sectors."
SUPREME COURT DECISIONS DISPUTE DIVERSITY GOALS & RENDER MANY OF THESE EFFORTS UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!
And so . . .
We feel like so many local newsies, local leaders and even biz people don't understand that significance of SCOTUS rulings and think of them as political rather than part of the U.S. legal framework.
The reality is that the decisions are bigger than one election cycle or even any Presidential administration.
And so . . .
Local biz leaders ACTUALLY dispute the law of the land as they demand diversity and antiquated ideas of the by-gone Civil Rights Era that no longer govern Americans.
