JaxCo Exec LeVota Imagines Arrowhead Entertainment District

To start, the price of demolition and THE MOST EPIC DOG PARK IN LOCAL HISTORY would be much smaller.

And . . .

Credit where it's due . . . This is a very ambitious distraction from an ongoing federal indictment and the current listening session party the feds are conducting at the courthouse.

Moreover . . .

Again, we admire the chutzpah of this proposal even if there's not the money or public will for this kind of project.

Finally . . .

So many locals still aren't ready to accept that the Truman Sports Complex is gonna be a graveyard in the very near future and at the very least we need to give the Exec some credit for starting the conversation going about what comes next.

Here's the word:

Do not abandon Arrowhead. Build around it.

“Arrowhead has history, identity, and value.” County Executive LeVota said. “We shouldn't wait until facilities are empty and hundreds of acres are sitting unused to start asking what comes next. The time to start that conversation is now.”

The report, developed following the work of the Sports Complex Redevelopment Task Force, includes two concepts illustrating how Arrowhead could remain the anchor of a year-round district. The concepts explore a mix of potential uses, including sports and entertainment, private development, transportation, hospitality and innovation.

LeVota emphasized that the concepts are not final development plans, but a starting point for future County leaders, the Legislature, community partners, and potential investors.

“I have 87 days left in my office, but Jackson County has decades ahead of it,” LeVota said. “This isn't about announcing what will be built. It's about making sure Jackson County is prepared for what comes next.”
