Downtown Kansas City STILL Pushing COVID Comeback

Here's the tell . . .

IF THERE WASN'T NOTICEABLY LESS ACTIVITY DOWNTOWN, THEY WOULDN'T NEED TO CONVINCE EVERYONE OF VIABILITY INSIDE THE LOOP!!!

TKC just completed the challenge . . .

On a Monday night we just got back to the basement after walking from Downtown and there was a bit of activity, some people on the street but NOTHING that anyone would mistake for "vibratory" or urban renewal.

To be fair . . .

Yes, it's all a lot better than surface parking lots that dominated the landscape inside the loop a mere 20 years ago . . . BUT . . . The pricetag is INSANE DEBT and a city hall budget that has been "structurally unbalanced" for more than a decade.

In fairness . . . Here are the constant talking points from our downtown friends . . .

"Six long years ago, when pandemic lockdowns emptied Downtowns across our country seemingly overnight, crisis narratives quickly took hold to make sense of the disruption; Downtowns were “dead,” offices were “over,” and dense urban living had lost its appeal in a vast, work-from-anywhere environment.

"However, the data in our State of Downtown Report tells a different story and invites you to discover a multifaceted Downtown Kansas City that has recovered and continues to thrive today."
