Downtown Kansas City Luminary Park Scheme NOT FULLY FUNDED

An important not-so-fun-fact that should be highlighted . . .

KANSAS CITY PREPS TO SHUT DOWN TRAFFIC NEAR THE LOOP FOR TWO YEARS WITHOUT MONEY TO FINISH THE PROJECT!!!

This might be one of the worst instances of disrespect toward neighborhoods and small biz this town has ever witnessed and we think that anybody connected with this hot mess won't be able to get elected to dog catcher once we're in the middle of it . . .

Meanwhile . . .

NOBODY IS ASKING IF THIS HOT MESS IS WORTH IT JUST TO ADD MORE PARK SPACE THAT'S ALREADY ABUNDANT IN AND AROUND THE LOOP!!!

Credit to this local station for putting the project on blast . . .

The first phase of the park project will have picnic areas, swings and slides. It’s completely funded already, but the goal for the city is to cap three more blocks east of Baltimore so the park stretches all the way to Grand Boulevard.

However, according to Assistant City Manager Jeff Martin, that would have to happen in at least one more phase, and there isn’t enough money for that right now.

“We do have some partial funding in place through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) for additional work, but it’s not enough to do an additional block at this time,” he said.
