Deadly Downtown Kansas City Shooting Kills Victim Inside Car

After this week was mostly filled with news of hope, plans and schemes for inside and around the Kansas City loop . . . We take a moment to share a reality check and a glimpse at deadly violence that still plagues our urban core. 

Here is the report police share with local media tonight . . .  

Homicide 10th and Baltimore

This evening, just after 7:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the area of 10th and Baltimore on sounds of shots being fired. While in route several additional sound of shots calls were reported.

As officers arrived they began canvassing the area. They approached the intersection of 10th and Baltimore and located a vehicle with an adult male victim inside, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began performing lifesaving measures and ordered EMS to the scene. Medics pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Detectives are working to determine what led up to the shots being fired and the victim being struck.  Crime scene personnel and investigators are on scene canvassing for witnesses, physical evidence, and surveillance footage.

Officers with the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) responded to the scene of a shooting in the area of 10th Street and Baltimore Avenue just before 7:30 p.m.
