There's not much time to prep for economic impact but the consequences of an empty hole in Jackson County finances are something to consider as election season moves forward.
Here's more evidence to back up those questions . . .
Built in the early 1970s, the stadiums are located in Kansas City and owned by Jackson County, but Raytown may feel the effects of the Truman Sports Complex’s demise as much or more than any other city in eastern Jackson County.
"Because we are only two miles south of there (the stadiums), we have an amazingly huge amount of traffic that comes through here the entire time that stadium has been open,” Mayor Mike McDonough said. “A lot of our restaurants, bars, gas stations and grocery stores are impacted, because people come through here and they stop to get stuff for the famous tailgating and stuff that they do, buy gasoline and beer and whatever else they're going to take with them.”

The Kansas City Royals and Chiefs plan to vacate the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex by 2030 and 2031, respectively, which could be a significant economic hit for nearby Raytown.
